John and Mike have been friends for over twenty years with a relationship characterized by all that best friends can be to each other. With an intensely shared zest for life and experiences, this friendship cocktail is equal parts unconditional love, fierce loyalty & reliability, mutual inspiration, intrepid travel, the culinary arts, above average music, and a deep appreciation of elevated foolishness. John is a graduate of Penn State University and received his law degree from South Texas College of Law. He currently serves The US Department of Justice as an Assistant United States Attorney and Deputy Criminal Chief over the Organized Crime & Narcotics Section. John is married to Betsy, his wife of 28 years and who is also one of Mike & Katie's dearest friends. John and Betsy are parents to Griffin (a very handsome black lab mix) and Sophie (a beautiful and demure Pittie).
Prentiss is Katie's best friend since childhood in Decatur, Alabama and her former Austin, TX roommate. Prentiss is a truly special person loved by both the Bride and the Groom. There is absolutely no one better to perform the wedding ceremony for Katie and Mike. Prentiss lives, paints, laughs, and writes stories in a little old house in Austin, Texas. He was born and raised in Decatur, Alabama and earned a BFA in graphic design and painting from the University of Montevallo. After graduation, Prentiss worked in graphic design for the next twenty years running his own design and advertising business along with a line of custom invitations and announcements. Prentiss left graphic design and the beautiful state of Alabama in 2012 for Austin, Texas. He found himself welcomed in the arms of a giving, generous community, and so began his time as the Executive Director for the Hill Country Ride for AIDS, the largest AIDS fundraiser in Central Texas. In 2017 Prentiss dove back into creative waters to produce a series of paintings for a near sellout show at the Lewis Carnegie gallery in East Austin. 2018 brought another show in Austin and Birmingham, and in the summer of 2019 Prentiss left his beloved role with the HCRA for creative pursuits on a full-time basis.
Rocky is a three-legged Dachshund who's never recognized that he's one wheel down. His approach to life is relentless and undaunted. He's also an amazing swimmer.
Raoul Lopez is from the mean streets of Houston and is the master of all he surveys. Though he is but small, he is mighty. Raoul runs this show with a sense of benevolent mirth that is hard to resist. His impressive cuteness is amplified when he's sleepy.
With blue eyes and white hair and a somewhat left-leaning ideology, we named this handsome boy after Anderson Cooper. He is as sweet and he is good-looking and gets along with everyone.
Flower is the source of all love in the universe...at least that's what we think. She is the kind of dog who loves all unconditionally and with an unending supply of cuteness.
Felipe was found on San Felipe at a gas station. Katie brought him home and Felipe has proven to be the personification of a cool cat. With plenty of love to offer in a laid-back, nonchalant fashion, Felipe makes it all look easy.
Buddy is a gentle giant and the friendliest of Great Pyrenees. He's extremely affectionate and willingly offers The Pyr Paw to those of whom he approves.
Pax is a recent addition. He found his way into our home and set up shop in a guest room closet. He has recently ventured out to see some of the world. Pax is a big love bug who purrs like a motorboat.
Prego is the Helen Mirren of our brood - she's the oldest, but that doesn't diminish her shine. Prego was rescued by Katie at a vet event several years ago and was pregnant with puppies at the time - hence, her name. She's the Mama Dog of this group.
Winnie is a hound-mix who gets along with everyone. She's energetic and loves to have a good time with dogs, people, or both.
