Marissa, aka "Mese" is Melanie's youngest sister and the one with the "best hair" according to HER. Joking aside Marissa is the most kind and caring sister. It was an easy choice to make Marissa one of her Maids of Honor due to her gift for planning amazing events and her sense of style. Easy pickings for Melanie!
Marissa has always had a knack for cooking and is known to be the sibling that gathers the family together with her delicious meals! Mese has a heart of gold and Mel so lucky to have Mese as her Co-Maid of Honor! Love you to the moon and back!
Yuna and Melanie magically met each other one evening for a mutual friend's house party. Yuna got paired up with Melanie in a game Yuna was very good at, "vertical pour". After a few rounds of the game and a few hours of talking, Melanie and Yuna could not deny there was an instant connection between the two: both realized their deep desire to vanquish evil; in other words how both truly valued good friends which is often very difficult to find.
Yuna is one of the most generous, funny, and agressively loyal friends. Time just seems to fly by when the two are hanging out together.
Kat is one of Melanie’s closest friends from dental school. She is the Seto “family general dentist!” Kat is someone who I’ve always trusted and who I know has the best intentions. She is one of the kindest people I know and will go out of her way for the people I love. I would not trust just anyone with treating my own family, but I know they are in good hands with her.
Melanie and Kat were not always friends. There was a time in dental school Kat was known as a gunner (definition: a person who is overly competitive and ambitious); Mel and Wendy stayed away from Kat at first because of this persona. However, her reputation was so far from the truth. The funnier thing was Kat was not even intending on specializing so in essence she was gunning just to gun! In all seriously, Kat is one of the most loyal and friendly people I know. It brings be a ton of joy to have her as one of my bridesmaids!
Aileen and Melanie met each other during Orthodontic residency in Las Vegas. Aileen was someone Melanie instantly connected with. Both enjoyed cooking and going out to eat good food in Vegas. That first year of residency, Mel and Aileen found they spent so much time together cooking at each other’s house that it would be great to live in the same complex. PROBLEM solved! Mel convinced Aileen to move into her complex; although in all honesty it did not take much convincing because Mel’s complex suited Aileen’s bougie lifestyle, PANORAMA TOWERS! Some of Melanie’s favorite memories of her time in Las Vegas included dinners with Aileen, Andy Dinh and Jason. Although Aileen still lives in Las Vegas, the two remain very close. It’s such an honor to have Aileen as a Bridesmaid!
Melanie’s oldest and first friend in the world was Stephen, her brother. Growing up Mel idolized her brother; Steve was popular and always the leader of the pack… in PRE-SCHOOL. Being the best older brother, Steve always included Mel in everything, and always watched over her to make sure she was ok. One day Mel came down with the flu and had to stay home, when momma and papa Seto picked up Steve they asked how his day was. Steve said “IT WAS AMAZING” they asked him why and Steve responded “I didn’t have to watch over Mel!” To this day Steve still watches over me and makes sure he takes care of his little sister. To the best brother in the entire world, I LOVE YOU STEVE! So happy that you are my one and only favorite BRO! Don’t think I would have made it through this world without you.
SPECIAL NOTE
Steve's beer, HOLY CRAFT will be featured at Melanie and Jason's Wedding. BE SURE TO DRINK UP!
Daryl is one of my closest childhood friends. Growing up, our homes were only a few blocks away from each other. We both went to the same kindergarten, elementary, and high school. Our youth was filled with countless memories hanging out, nearly burning down our high school chemistry class through a failed group project! Those were the good old days when we were so young and carefree. We both eventually “matured” and as we grew older, we still remain close and continue to keep in touch throughout the years. Daryl is one of the most welcoming, caring and dependable guys I know. Whether you looking for a good recommendation for a fine wine or want to chat about financial planning, Daryl is your man!
I met Kelvin in high school, we had a few classes together and the rest is history. We both instantly bonded through KPop and thought we were the coolest and ONLY kids at the time with MD (mini disc players). As nerdy as that seemed, it only gets better. He would hold epic massive multiplayer Halo Lan parties at his house where we would stay up late and play until the wee hours in the morning. The losers would have to go pick up food for everyone – California burritos and Carne Asada fries. Kelvin is also one of the few Eagle Scouts I am fortunate to know and also benefit from as he and other Eagle Scout friends would help organize annual camping trips that we kept a streak going for over a decade before finally coming to an end. Kelvin is one of my closest friends, both hilarious and not afraid to speak his mind.
Shannon and I have known each other for a while now and could always catch up as if it were just yesterday. We both met in high school and have been close ever since. After high school, Shannon moved to San Francisco for college and eventually made it her home. As I went off to school and more school, we would make an effort to catch up whenever we were both in SF or while we were home in Sacramento during the holidays. I could always appreciate Shannon’s fun, direct, and no nonsense personality. She is one of the few ladies out there that you could share a few beers with, talk about anything, and be in good company. The hell with tradition, my groomsmen party would not be the same without her. ))<>((
Ryan and I met in high school and have pretty much remained friends ever since. Ryan is one of the most down to Earth guys I know who would always be down to grab a drink or two and have a good time. After a successful 21st birthday, I remember recovering on Ryan’s couch with a trash can next to my head. He is the type of guy who will look out for you in times of need. I can remember many memories whether at parties, camping, celebrations, or just simply being out where Ryan would be there. He is a master chef, can take anything apart, and can likely find you tickets for a popular Broadway musical. Ryan is the life of the party, he is the shirt on your back, he is a friend who you could always turn to.
Chris, aka Clow and I go way back to elementary school together. He is one of the few guys that I have grown up with, worked with and share many memories throughout the years. During high school, he helped me get a job at a Japanese Restaurant where we both worked for years. Also during high school, we and a bunch of other friends dressed up in these ridiculous Adidas track suits and took embarrassing studio pictures. After high school, we both went off to college in Southern California and then off to grad school. The one thing about Chris that those close to him know, is that he always takes forever to get ready. So hopefully when the big day starts, we’ll be able to start on time! On a more serious note, Chris will go out of his way for you and do whatever he can to help his friends out. This is why he still remains a close friend of mine through all good times.
Since there were two Jason’s in our group of friends, I was typically known as JLim, and he JLee. The first thing you would notice about Jason is his positive attitude, he never seems upset. Even after I got to know him pretty well, you would still have to try really hard to tick him off. Although we both went to different schools growing up, we met through mutual friends who were also Eagle Scouts. We’d see each other at annual camping trips for many years before schedules finally got too busy. We both met again at UCLA where we hung out, joined a Thai Culture club together and had plenty of good times getting Korean BBQ and BCD. Eventually, we both continued our academic careers into endless schooling and are both anticipated to finish our respected residencies next year. JLee is a great guy and an even better friend.
Melanie and Samantha have known each other since High School! The two became extremely close while attending Choate Rosemary Hall, and dare I say it she is my sister from another mother! The two were so close that when Samantha found out Jason was interviewing in New York, she insisted he stay with her. Knowing how important of a friend Samantha is to Melanie, during Jason’s he informed Sam know of his intentions and how he was going to propose. This may be the only secret Samantha has ever kept from Mel. LOL.
Samantha is funny, witty and ordained in California! Jason and Melanie feel so blessed and could not think of anyone they would rather have than Samantha bless and join them in holy matrimony!
