How they met...

It all began in a far away, strange land. The buildings towered on every corner, and motorcycles drove on the sidewalks. While there, two young people met in a Dunkin Donuts. From there, our young groom-to-be took his future bride to a local bar with the hope of aweing her with his skill at billiards and darts. It wasn’t a great plan on his part, and she proceeded to destroy him in every game. Luckily for him she agreed to a second date after a late night of fried chicken. Together they traveled over three continents, several oceans, and a multitude of countries. Their journey brought them upon the backs of elephants, into the center of monsoons, to erupting volcanos, and to the top of ancient ruins. Now they're about to make their union official, and write a new chapter in the novel of their lives.

The proposal...

After almost 5 years of dating, James figured he needed to propose before Mayra murdered him in his sleep. The two had talked about getting married before, but he had never quite taken the plunge. Although they had discussed rings and weddings many times, James decided to text Mayra asking her to describe her perfect ring. Mayra, detailed as she is, proceeded to send James a long stream of texts, followed by sample pictures. James, unbeknownst to Mayra, was at a jeweler and handed to phone to the jeweler so he could work his magic.

Once he had the perfect ring, it was time to plan the proposal. James spent countless hours in his basement woodworking shop designing the perfect ring box. He planned a date in Newton at the Puzzle Break escape rooms. Mayra and James were joined by three random people in the escape room, featuring the Grimm Fairytales. Mayra, being the competitive person that she is, was trying to rush through the rooms, trying to escape before the hour was up. She thought it was a little odd that the game master was in the room with them, but she just chalked it up to either the PA malfunctioning or just a different game policy.

As the group tried to solve the puzzles, the game master ended up giving them more than the "normal" amount of clues. Trying to win, Mayra didn't even notice. When they reached the final box to unlock, Mayra found another wooden box inside. She turned around to ask if anyone had a key and saw James pulling a key out of his pocket. Mayra still had no clue what was going on and asked James why he had put a game key in his pocket. He threw her the key and she turned to open the box. When she saw the ring, she immediately started tearing up and turned around to find James on one knee behind her.

Obviously she said yes.
