We both lived in San Diego for four years before our paths crossed, thanks to the dating app, Hinge. Our online conversations flowed effortlessly, from talking about music to our favorite local restaurants.
Our first date was simple and perfect, watching the sunset overlooking the ocean, while having a gelato. We both had the unspoken thought that if things went well, one of us would suggest dinner afterwards. As the sun set and our conversation continued, I was pleasantly surprised that Om asked me to join him for dinner. I was happy and impressed that he picked my favorite restaurant without knowing!
By our third date, we were so excited to keep learning more about each other that we shared our values, dreams, and what defines us as individuals. Over the next few months, we explored San Diego together, talked about our challenges in life and realized that being together made us feel like we could get through anything. Our love of music took us to a Journey concert and amidst a love song, Om hand traced “I love you.”
We knew our bond was special so we started spending time with each other’s families, and it felt as though everything was falling into place. In February 2024, Om took me to the beautiful Seagrove Park in San Diego. With the ocean as our backdrop, he handed me a rose, shared how much I mean to him, and then got down on one knee to propose. Overwhelmed with joy, I said yes! When we returned to Om’s place, I was surprised and delighted to find our families waiting to celebrate with us, marking the start of a series of joyful celebrations.
And so, what began as a simple swipe on Hinge blossomed into a love story that neither one of us could have anticipated - a journey that brought us here, ready to start our next chapter together.
