Our love story began in Denver, back in 2016 at KB Home where Brett and Marea both worked. Marea and a group of co-workers frequently had lunch together and soon included Brett in the outings because of his charisma and sense of humor. One particular lunch, Brett and Marea sat next to each other and starting talking about beer. Marea mentioned one of her favorite breweries was SKA (located in Durango, CO) and learned it was one of Brett’s favorites too. During this conversation they discovered they had both attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and became “best friends”.
Flirtatious banter was exchanged back and forth over the next few days but Brett had a firm rule of “no fishing off the company dock.” Regardless, Marea reached out to Brett via work email on a Friday for ideas on where to go for a fun night out in the Centennial area. Brett suggested a couple spots and informed Marea he would also be out in the Centennial area for a guy’s night. With some encouragement from her close co-workers, Marea asked Brett for his number in case they might want to meet up that night.
A few texts were exchanged that night and Marea was soon crashing guy’s night to hang out with Brett. Their chemistry was undeniable, and being the good friends they are, everyone left early so Brett and Marea could continue the night one-on-one. They closed down the bar that evening after exchanging stories and lots of laughter.
In the coming weeks, Brett’s firm rule flew right out the window. And after an awkward conversation with their bosses and KB Home’s head of HR, the 2 were inseparable.
Nearly 3 years of memories later, the couple moved in together, have been traveling the world and spoiling their corgi, Princess Penelope. A few months ago, Brett popped the question on vacation in beautiful Cuba, a place they always dreamt of going. Obviously Marea said yes! The couple can’t wait for this exciting new chapter to begin!
