When Deon invited Paul to his belated 40th, an evening of music and friends, neither could expect the depth of connection they would have.
Our first time out with the girls! An important day for us as a family-to-be
So many train trips and car rides between Joburg (Maboneng) and Centurion, and everywhere in between. All the roads lead to each other, finally able to put away our road maps because we knew our journey to find love was finally complete.
Family holidays, and road trips became tradition
Friends who became family, got married and we celebrated with them. From a group that was not gay friendly, this couple stood out. Loved, and cared for us.
Our adventures filled our lives with fun, and sometimes a lot of colour
We even got glasses at the same time... it's not like we're growing old just yet, but we're looking forward to doing it together.
This was our first gay wedding we'd been to, and it was two great role models who have enriched our lives and journey.
Lots and lots of coffee was had over the years, often at Industrial. Many friends and family will have spent time with us here, making wonderful memories.
Loads of fun in Cape Town with the girls, and family… and we learned that sometimes a medical emergency helps you get up table mountain faster.
The first drag queen we got to see was on our 1 year anniversary in Beefcakes, while this photo was a few years later, she's always had a special place in our hearts as have the friends from Beefcakes.
In 2019 Deon won the local "Voice of Flight Centre", proving that his voice is as sweet as his love. He even had a chance to sing in Vegas shortly after this photo.
Such a wonderful day, full of colour and celebration. Thanks to Deon's work, we celebrated in style, joining the parade on an open topped bus.
The first yes beginning the next part of our journey. Deon caught Paul totally by surprise and planned a celebration with friends and family.
We knew covid was coming, and wanted to start our wedding plans early. We had no idea it would last as long as it did, postponing our plans for 3 years!
The good times were tempered with bad, but we kept smiling … #COVIDSucked
Even before our wedding, we worked through the "In sickness, and in health" part when Deon caught covid. He recovered and we grew stronger.
Sometimes you need great friends to get you going. This was from a weekend with a group that always looked out for our best.
The girls blossomed and grew, and we had the privilege of being a part of it. Joy, heartbreak, nerves, and new horizons all formed a wonderful painting of our lives.
Just post covid we got to spend an amazing holiday in Pilanesberg. We camped, we ate, we saw ALL the animals, and Kay-Lynne turned 16. But lets not talk about the Kings incident that made us known to half the campsite.
We celebrated the 80's in style as we went into our 45th year.
#Mainsbury has a nice ring to it - hashtag it on social media on the day.
