Steven and Maddie first met while working together as EMT's on an ambulance. After working as partners for a year and growing closer with each shift that passed, Maddie eventually asked Steven if he wanted to go skiing. Their first date was at Okemo Ski Mountain in Ludlow, VT on January 22, 2021.
After their first date they became an inseparable duo. Rarely would you see Steven without Maddie or Maddie without Steven. They began to spend every minute that they weren't working, continuing to get to know each other.
Very quickly they both knew that this was something serious. 8 days later after their first date skiing, Steven got dressed up and was introduced to Maddie's parents, who very quickly also fell in love with him.
After spending hours at airports on shift, so that Steven could take as make pictures of jets and helicopters as possible, Maddie learned that Steven had never flown in a helicopter before and knew that needed to change. So for Valentine's Day she surprised him with a sunset helicopter tour.
I think Steven's face says it all when it comes to how excited he was and how much he liked it.
24 days after their first date they knew they didn't want to spend any more time apart then they had to, so they moved into an apartment together!
3 days after moving in together Maddie and Steven found out that they both had Covid. This meant they were about to spend 24/7 with each other for 3 weeks never leaving the apartment. They would either discover they like living together or it was going to be a long 3 weeks....
3 weeks later they were still all smiles and were very compatible when it comes to living together. Steven did a very good job caring for Maddie while they were both sick even though she didn't want to drink fluids....
After being cleared from Covid, they celebrated Maddie's 21st Birthday at a Bob Marley comedy show where they were nicknamed Barefoot and Cheapo. You will have to ask them for the story.
As their relationship continued to grow, they began to explore each other's hobbies. Maddie was very excited to learn of a hobby that didn't involve hours of waiting for aircraft to take off and land. Steven was very patient and taught Maddie how to shoot. Maddie fell in love with being at the range and they now frequently have range days shooting watermelons, clays and cans of soda.
Steven was also a good sport in exploring Maddie's hobby of finding ice cream anywhere they are! Steven wasn't too upset to take this on as a hobby.

Steven took Maddie to Pennsylvania for her first official airshow! This is where Maddie discovered her love for airshow naps while Steven takes pictures of planes.
On the 4th of July, Maddie took Steven to one of her most favorite events!! Demo Derby's!!!
They vacationed in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. This is an annual tradition in Maddie's family that ends with mini golf! (Jarrod (Maddie's Dad) never wins despite what he may tell you! Don't listen to him!)
They enjoy chasing sunsets no matter where they are.
They became blood donors together!

Don't worry the trip wasn't entirely about the airshow. Steven surprised Maddie and found a place to go ice skating in Houston! If you know Maddie she doesn't do well in the heat, so finding a cold ice skating rink was very exciting! Although it did take her a minute to find her skating legs.
They enjoy competing with Maddie's family to see who can successfully complete the corn maze with all the punches first!
After what seemed like forever of walking around a Christmas Tree farm in very chilly temperatures, they found their first Christmas tree together!
Steven and Maddie host their first Christmas party!! Their first annual Yankee Swap with both of their parents!
After bringing it inside they carefully decorated it to Maddie's standards. Steven was very patient and supportive!!
After finding a once in a lifetime travel deal, Maddie and Steven planned an international vacation in less than a week to the island of Terceira in the Azores!! They went canyoning in waterfalls, explored the island on a side by side, ate the world's most delicious steak (shoutout to Steak on Stone!!) and explored a volcano!
Through all of their numerous adventures Maddie and Steven fell deeper in love with each other. Truly becoming inseparable. To this day it is very rare to spot one without the other. 1 year and 8 months later, Steven knew that he had an important question to ask Maddie so....
He asked Maddie if he could plan a date night. He let her know that he wanted to take her to a nice restaurant and that they would need to get dressed up. On October 2nd, 2022 they did just that. With no knowledge of where they were headed Maddie hopped in the car and off they went until they arrived at Button Bay State Park. The place where they were considering holding their wedding. Steven asked Maddie if he could take a photo of her facing into the sunset. When she turned around.....
Steven was down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She of course said yes! After saying yes they looked around to be surround by Steven's parents, Maddie's parents and Maddie's best friend, Katie. Their family members documented the entire proposal and got so many amazing shots!! They are looking forward to a life time of adventures, airshows (airshow naps), and all the ice cream Maddie can find!
