King Street

Upper King Street offers fashionable and funky boutiques and casual spots for drop in lunches. Middle King Street offers upscale retail chains and local shops. Hit Lower King Street for interiors, jewelry, and antiques.

The Market

Runs between Meeting Street and East Bay Street. This open-air market has many vendors displaying handmade crafts such as sweet grass baskets, art, and jewelry, and lots of local flavor.

The Battery

According to many, there's no better example of antebellum life than the Aiken-Rhett House Museum.

Angel Oak Tree

Visitors will find one of Charleston's most photographed icons on Johns Island: the Angel Oak Tree. It is said to be the largest live oak east of the Mississippi. The gorgeous tree is 65 feet high, with a circumference of 25.5 feet. It's estimated that the tree is between 300 and 400 years old.

Fort Sumter National Monument

Fort Sumter is where the first shot of the Civil War was fired, back in 1861. Ferry's are available from downtown to the actual fort which provides its own small yet in depth museum.

Gibbes Museum of Art

Fabulous art museum that offers something for everyone. It's not overwhelming and easy to see in a couple of hours. The mobile app is great and has a variety of tour themes while the building itself is its own work of art.

Sullivan's Island

Sitting at the mouth of the Charleston harbor – a little less than 10 miles east of the downtown area – Sullivan's Island boasts beaches, tasty restaurants and unique shops, plus a colorful history.
