Needless to say it was electric

Lizzie's mother, Laurye, always told her that she would never meet a nice Christian boy in a trashy bar...and she was right. Instead, Lizzie met a nice Jewish boy!

On a cold night in late November, Lizzie was persuaded by her friend - and bridesmaid - Courtney to attend a birthday party at a bar called Mission in Washington, DC. Little did Lizzie know that going to this bar would change her life forever.

The party was sectioned off in a private room, where there was an open bar for the birthday girls' guests. This is where the hero of our love story enters the picture. Gabe, who was not invited to this party, saw the opportunity for some free drinks and party crashing fun. When he walked through the door to the party he saw his future wife standing right by the door.

Gabe was immediately taken by Lizzie and knew that he had to make a memorable introduction.

Gabe: What are you the bouncer?

Lizzie: Yup that's right, let's see your ID.

*so smooth*

Gabe then went to get himself a drink at the bar. After receiving his beverage, he felt an unexplainable need to speak with the 'bouncer' again. Gabe quickly maneuvered his way to Lizzie and asked if he could buy her a drink. Unfortunately, Lizzie had already called an Uber and was off to grab some food with some of her friends.

Alas, this is where Gabe could have turned away and accepted defeat. However, instead he decided to go for it and asked Lizzie for her cell phone number. To Gabe's unbelievable luck, his boldness paid off and Lizzie shared her number, saying, "I've entered my name as 'Lizzie Messer (Mission)', in the likely event you can't remember my name tomorrow, just look for the name of the bar." (Side note, that remains her contact name in his phone to this day)

The next day Gabe followed up with a text asking Lizzie out (pictured to the left) and needles to say, it's been electric ever since.
