What are your COVID-19 protocols?

We expect to be in a much better position with regard to Omicron by early April, yet we are taking a safety-conscious and thoughtful approach with regard to COVID-related precautions. In order to ensure a safe environment for all guests:

-We are requiring that all wedding guests ages 5+ be fully up-to-date on their COVID vaccinations in accordance with current CDC guidelines
-Everyone's gift bag will contain rapid COVID-19 antigen tests, so each guest can take a quick test before joining the group festivities
-We have met with all vendors and venues to review their COVID safety policies to ensure that they meet our standards
-All events will have some outdoor spaces available for you to mix, mingle and eat. The Events page of our website provides information on specific outdoor space available at all events, so you can get a sense of all the venues
-We are monitoring federal, state and local data and public health guidance carefully, and if prudent, we will adjust plans accordingtly.

Should you have any questions regarding the precautions we are taking, please feel free to reach out to us directly.

Can my kids come?

Our Rehearsal Dinner on Saturday evening and our Wedding Ceremony & Reception on Sunday are adults-only (except for immediate family - we do need flower girls, after all!) due to venue capacity constraints and the nature of the events.

For the rest of the weekend (Friday Welcome Reception, Saturday and Sunday daytime activities, and Monday Departure Breakfast) kids are welcome to join if they're in town, please just let us know what they will be attending.

If you would like to bring your kids to Carmel for the weekend, please let us know. We don't want childcare constraints to impact anybody's ability to attend our wedding weekend or to stay for the entire time. If that's a challenge, please talk to us. We can help you find sitter care in Carmel.

What do you expect the weather to be?

The weather in Carmel/Monterey during spring will likely be in the low- to mid-60s during the day and may dip down to the high 40s/low 50s in the evenings. Yes, it's California and it's springtime, but please be prepared for weather than can get chilly, particularly at night, and because we'll be near the ocean. We recommend bringing an extra layer to all outdoor activities, especially in the evenings.

The chances of rain are low.

Will there be fire risk?

While, unfortunately, the wildfires in CA have gotten worse in recent years and fire season has lengthened, our wedding will take place outside of fire season, which typically extends from around June through November. California's wettest months are January-March, so April should be safely after the rains but before fire season. Of course, anything is possible, but part of the reason we chose April was to avoid the risk of fire and smoke.

What's the app for?
As the wedding date approaches, we encourage you to download the Appy Couple app to your phone (see the "Our App" page on this website to learn more, and please note that the access code is "lizandrichard"). We plan to use the app to send notifications and updates to our guests during our wedding weekend (e.g., "The afterparty is now starting, and Amanda Berman has offered to buy everyone's next round. Come quickly!").
