Over ten years ago, Komal and Shaan landed on a beautiful, tiny Caribbean Island called Saba pursuing their goals of medicine. While they planned on being nothing but good students, they may have gotten a little distracted along the way.
They met during a meet and greet filled with several excited and slightly nervous med students. Little did they know this casual gathering would completely change their lives. Like something out of a romantic comedy, their eyes locked across the patio and an instant connection was undeniable. After weeks of "coincidentally" finding adjacent seats in class together, making excuses to study together, grabbing lunch at the same spots, and hanging out at the same parties, it was obvious that they were inseparable.
They went through their medical school journey together which despite the stress, only strengthened their bond. They then couples matched together in Detroit for residency. Throughout all of this, they made time to live their lives to the fullest by spending time with their loved ones, building lifelong friendships and pursuing a joint passion for traveling the world.
One of the few occasions where they didn’t travel together, Shaan saw an opportunity for the ultimate surprise proposal. Komal was going on a girl’s trip with her mom and sister to the gorgeous Canadian Rockies. Shaan had secretly flown out and coordinated this perfect moment with the help of both families. So when Komal was visiting a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains early one morning, she was stunned to hear her name called out from nearby trees. Shaan had been waiting at the most picturesque spot in Two Jack Lake and left Komal speechless. He then got down on one knee against this flawless backdrop and popped the question, to which the answer was a resounding yes.
And now although there were some delays along the way, they are extremely excited to make it all official in June and cannot wait to celebrate with their nearest and dearest!
