On January 15th, 2017, Ger'Mario was liking Lydia's pictures on Facebook and Lydia then decided to inbox him and asked for him to come help clean her dorm room at Troy University. He actually showed up but they didn't clean the room. Instead, they spent all night getting to know each other. One conversation lead to another and before they knew it, it was already 7AM. Ger'Mario then left and went to church. After church he returned back to Lydia's dorm to continue the conversation. Later that evening, they went on their "first" date to Moe's on campus. When they returned back to Lydia's dorm, Ger'Mario then snuck a kiss and it changed how Lydia felt about him. She said, " you know this is going to change how I feel about you, right." He knew exactly what he was doing. They continued spending every day together. A week went by and Ger'Mario's mom came to Troy to help him move into his new dorm. He told Lydia that she was going to meet his mom. Lydia was so nervous. She then asked, "What are you going to tell your mom?"
Ger'Mario said, " That you are my lady."
Lydia giggled.... and then said, " How are you going to assume that I'm your lady if you didn't ask me."
At 2:37PM on January 21, 2017, Ger'Mario asked Lydia to be his girl and she said "YES!"
On November 21st, 2020, Lydia and Ger'Mario went on a hot air balloon ride over the city of Denver, CO. This was the number one thing Lydia wanted for her birthday and it was such a special moment spending it with her boyfriend. After the hot air balloon ride, the two and their friends went to Snooze and had brunch. The plan was to take Christmas Photos after their late brunch. Lydia actually did not like taking Christmas photos but she did it because Ger'Mario insisted. The two and their friends headed down to Boulder, CO to a park with a beautiful Mountain View. The two got out the car and Lydia gave her camera to her friends and started posing with Ger'Mario. They snapped a few poses and Lydia's friend, Christina told Lydia to pose a certain way. Lydia had no idea Ger'Mario was behind her getting down on one knee. She turned around and started crying tears of joy. She was in shock and couldn't believe her eyes. Ger'Mario asked Lydia would she be his wife and of course she said YES!
