Waikiki is the hub of Oahu - there are hundreds of places to stay! In addition to our hotel recommendations, you can check out Airbnb, vacation rentals, hostels, or other hotels. We recommend visiting a website like booking.com to see all of your options in one place!
Car Rentals:
In an effort to make this experience convenient and enjoyable for all of our guests, all three hotel recommendations are in the heart of the Waikiki Beach area and are walking distance to the beach, shopping, dining, and cultural experiences! Given that we are providing a shuttle to/from the wedding venue, we do not think it's necessary for our guests to rent a car! Car rentals in Hawaii are expensive and we wanted to keep our international guests in mind :)
SpeediShuttle:
Our top recommendation to get to/from the airport is to use the SpeediShuttle service. The fee is 16 USD (one way) and a reservation is required. Use this link to book: SpeediShuttle Booking Link
Taxis:
Taxi Service is available on the center median fronting the terminal baggage claim areas. They will cost about 50 USD (one way).
Uber:
Uber is also available at the airport - the fee will range depending on what time you request it. Please keep in mind if you're traveling internationally that you will need cell service to call an Uber.
VIVE Hotel - Assistance:
If you are staying at the VIVE hotel, they are happy to help arrange a ride for you with one of their partner companies. Call or email their Concierge at 808-462-5909 or concierge@vivehotelwaikiki.com.
1. Hike Diamond Head - A mild hike and only takes about 30 minutes to get to the top but once you do you’ll have a fabulous view of Waikiki and Honolulu.
2. Waikiki Beach – This is a must do since you will be walking distance from it! Hitting the beach is THE most popular thing to do in Waikiki. Kuhio Beach is the most popular stretch of Waikiki and for good reason…the conditions are perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
3. Duke Statue - The famous bronze statue of Duke Kahanamoku (Olympic Champion and the “father of surfing”) is a must see on Waikiki.
4. China Town - Spend a few hours exploring Chinatown’s markets, lei shops, and bar and restaurant scene.
5. Pearl Harbor – This is an Uber ride away, but a great experience if you get the chance to go! Get tickets here in advance to visit the USS Arizona Memorial. Tickets to the Arizona Memorial are free but limited.
6. Foster Botanical Garden - Honolulu’s oldest botanical garden is located near Chinatown and is home to some amazing tropical plants. Admission is $5 USD.
7. Waikiki Aquarium - The Waikiki Aquarium is a great place to get an up close look at local marine life. Admission is $12 USD.
8. Honolulu Zoo – It might not compare to the Australia Zoo, but the Honolulu Zoo has a pretty good collection of animals. Admission is $14 USD.
9. Honolulu Museum of Art - You may not think art when you think Hawaii, but this museum has a surprisingly diverse collection. Admission is $20 USD. 18 and under are free.
10. Hanauma Bay - Oahu’s most popular snorkeling spot is just a quick bus ride from Honolulu. It’s $7.50 USD to snorkel in this pristine bay (it’s a nature preserve) and you can rent snorkel gear for another $12.50 USD. If you ended up renting a car, parking is $1 USD but it fills up early. It’s open from 6AM-6PM, but closed on Tuesdays.
