Explore Colorful Old San Juan
Old San Juan is the colorful, colonial section of the island that was originally settled by the Spanish. The quaint cobblestone streets and pastel buildings are a sight to see and you can easily walk around all of Old San Juan on your own discovering great restaurants, shopping and street side bars with music. There are guided walking tours available if you would like to learn about the historic sights from a knowledgeable local guide.
Visit Castillo San Felipe del Morro
Take a trip to Castillo San Felipe del Morro, (El Morro) right in San Juan. The Spanish fort sits atop a high promontory overlooking the entrance to the San Juan Bay. It is the result of the efforts of Spanish engineers over a period of more than 250 years and is one of the largest fortifications built by the Spain in the Caribbean. Whether you want to learn more about el morro's rich history or see beautiful views of San Juan Bay this trip is a must do while in San Juan.
Explore Vibrant Loiza Street
A quick walk from Condado and accessible easily via uber - the dining scene is currently booming here and San Loiza Street is a bona fide art scene in the neighborhood of Santurce, and with it, a vibrant area renewal. The center of this is Calle Loiza, also known as San Juan’s own hipster headquarters. Loiza Street. Walk down here for delicious hip new restaurants, places to shopping, tattoo parlors, hair salons and trendy delicious coffee shops all surrounded by vibrant street mural art. Casa Bacardi Tour
Casa Bacardi located right outside of San Juan is an excellent stop to add to your trip. The home of Bacardi offers historical tours, rum tasting tours, and mixology classes. Regardless of the tour you go with you're bound to have a good time and a drink or two!
Electric Bike Tour (Night) - Condado / Old San Juan
Electric Bikes are unique to any other tour in Old San Juan. And in our opinion, the very best way to explore the city. The electric engine allows guests to effortlessly and smoothly ride up and down hills, out to forts, and down narrow roads that would otherwise be a bit difficult and tiring without. A "game changer" to experience the charming city.
What to Expect bike passing by Old San Juan and Condado
With electronic bikes, you'll be zooming and smiling from start to finish, without breaking a sweat! Along your journey you'll have the opportunity to enjoy ocean views, colorful buildings of Old San Juan, historical forts, and more! Trust us, these bikes are game changers for exploring our charming cities. Don't miss out on this one! "Highlight of our vacation, we can't wait to do it again!"
LED Glow and Paint Nighttime Kayaking - Condado Lagoon
LED Night Kayak excursion is unlike anything you've ever done before! Paddle around the lagoon, under the stars, and underneath the historic bridge while enjoying the LED glow of your Kayak as well as the CITY LIGHTS surrounding the Condado Lagoon. This is truly a great way to see the city from a different perspective and have an absolute blast while doing so. What else? Our kayaks have CLEAR bottoms; creating a "window into the lagoon!" While viewing marine life is a "perk" to this tour, you may be able to spot night critters such as tiny bait fish (think Finding Nemo), giant orange star fish, lobsters, sting rays and more. This guided Urban Adventure is a "must do" when visiting San Juan. Don't miss out, paddle out, and "Experience the GLOW!"
Note: Remember to arrive 30 minutes early for complimentary glow paint, glow sticks, photo, and Kayak "101" lesson. Example: 7pm tour (arrive at 6:30pm). 9pm tour (arrive at 8:30pm).
Bioluminescent Kayaking Tour in Fajardo
Bioluminescent kayaking is a must do while visiting Puerto Rico. Fajardo, about an hour from San Juan, has one of three bioluminscent bays you can kayak in. These naturally occuring bodies of water will let you will witness hundreds of tiny star-like bioluminescent plankton scintillating like a starry sky as you move through the bay. Wave your paddle through the water in front of you, and be mesmerized by the tiny glowing specs of plankton or Dinoflagellates which are tiny unicellular marine plankton also known as fire plants.
If interested you can use the link below to book a tour or find another as there are several tour companies that offer bioluminescent tours nightly.

Boat your way through the passages of La Parguera or the incredible blue sights of Punta Arenas in Vieques and be enchanted by Puerto Rico’s Caribbean waters. If you’re planning to stay in San Juan, you can always stand-up paddle in the Condado Lagoon for amazing views of the city, take a jet-ski for a ride or go Kite-surfing off the beach.
Playa Escambron
Balneario El Escambron is the most picturesque beach in San Juan protected by a coral reef with soft golden sand and perfectly landscaped with tall palm trees providing cozy shaded spots. Be sure to block off much more than beach time, you’ll be walking into a recreational park with enough activities for a fun-filled day the whole family will enjoy.
Escambron Beach is located in Puerta de Tierra within walking distance from Old San Juan and Condado. Escambron is the best public beach on the metro area offering much more than a great beach experience. Here you can snorkel, scuba dive, take a walk along the scenic oceanside trail, visit the historic Bateria El Escambron, enjoy the green area at Parque Tercer Milenio (Third Millennium Park), eat great food and more.
Condado Beach
The beach of Condado is a very popular beach among tourists in San Juan craving for a Caribbean beach resort experience with all the vibrant life of a city just steps away. Condado is often compared to the vibe of Miami Beach, the cultural experiences, nearby beaches and world class attractions make Condado Beach even more attractive, not to mention the weather is warmer all year round.
Piñones Beach
Piñones is an area just outside of San Juan, located along Route 187, which runs along Puerto Rico's north coast and connects San Juan and Loíza. In places, it's a very scenic road that shows you a more rustic side of the island and has two of the nicest beaches to hang out during the day and grab local food.
Do the words "alcapurrias, bacalaítos, pasteles, and empanadillas" mean anything to you? Probably no,t but these finger foods represent Puerto Rico's greasy, crispy, artery-clogging contribution to fast food. The locals love these snacks, which are meat- and vegetable- filled turnovers and fritters.
You can get this stuff in San Juan, but it won't have the quaint local charm of Piñones. Plus, you have the added and significant bonus of being right on the beach. After a cheap beer, a few fried delicacies, you can walk down to the ocean, take a dip, and come right back for more.
Flamenco Beach
Flamenco Beach is the best-known beach on the Island and one of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico. Ranked among the best beaches in the Caribbean, this beach has amenities such as, lifeguards, camping area, showers, changing rooms and bathrooms, parking area and kiosks with Puerto Rican food. The water is crystal clear and practically wave-less the majority of the year and shallow enough for children to swim safely. Flamenco Beach is perfect for laying in the sun, going snorkeling, play beach soccer and other activities. While you’re there, don't miss your chance to bump into Flamenco’s most iconic attraction, The Tank, which is a reminder of the US Navy’s occupancy of Culebra.
Playa La Chiva "Blue Beach"
If you love taking long walks on the beach, if you fantasize about snorkeling over crystal clear water, if you want breathtaking scenery, you can’t miss visiting the amazing beach of La Chiva located on Vieques. During the Navy’s presence on the island, this beach was nicknamed “Blue Beach”, the name is no longer used and locals prefer that the formal name of La Chiva is used. The waters of La Chiva Beach are pure perfection. Starting at the west end of the La Chiva, the tones are a deeper turquoise with tones of navy blue on the horizon. The first few stops at La Chiva are a great spot for those that want the most solitude since most beach goers head to the other end to snorkel.
If you're going to make the trip to Playa La Chiva then make sure you check out Playa Caracas, it's walking distance away. You will need to plan early and take a ferry to Vieques!
Playa Caracas
Playa Caracas (previously known as “Red” Beach”) is a family friendly beach and one of the local’s favorites for enjoying fun days under the sun. Playa Caracas offers easy access, it is the first beach access on the National Wildlife Refuge on the south side of Vieques along the Caribbean Sea. The waters have beautiful tones of turquoise, and the sand is a very soft and light white coral. The waters offer gentle waves offering fun for children wanting to do a little boogie boarding.
Zoni Beach
Zoni Beach, a living canvas with dazzling shades of blues, like no other beach in Puerto Rico. From your lounge chair you can enjoy views of the archipelago of Culebra, the islands of St. Thomas and Tortola in the distance. Bring your favorite book, take a walk and claim a shaded spot under a leaning palm tree and relax to the sounds of the surf without crowds even on a busy day. Zoni Beach is the second most popular beach in Culebra, an option for beach lovers wanting a more quiet and secluded feel than Flamenco.
Luqillo Beach
Luquillo Beach is one of the best balnearios (public beaches) of Puerto Rico, situated on the east coast of the island, a short drive from El Yunque. Luquillo Beach is known for its calm waters, prestine sand as well as its food kiosks next to the beach.

This is an excellent day trip just about 1 hour an 20 minute drive from San Juan, Puerto Rico. If you don’t want to drive yourself, you can conveniently book with a cavern tour guide who provide transportation from San Juan.
Plaza Las Americas
Plaza Las Americas is the Caribbean’s mega-mall, dominating one end of the Hato Rey district of San Juan. Among its 300-plus stores, you can find anything from candles to cars, along with a plethora of restaurants and activities, including a movie theater and bowling. You'll also find a mix of international brands (Coach, Nine West, Macy's, etc.) and local names (Bared for jewelry, Arts and Crafts PR, and more). Plus, the sculptures and open spaces in the mall are quite pleasant.
El Vagon Food Truck
El Vagon is a permanently placed Food Truck / Mexican restaurant with Tex-Mex and SoCal influences with lots of flavor. Some of the best fish and ceviche tacos in the area! Vegetarian Friendly, Vegan Options. Outdoor seating with music and alcohol being served.
La Cueva Del Mar
Favored by locals and tourists alike, La Cueva del Mar is the ideal spot for a casual lunch or dinner, as well as, a night out for drinks with friends thanks to its relaxed and lively atmosphere. A visit to La Cueva del Mar is not complete without ordering their scrumptious fish tacos. You can have them as an appetizer (one taco) or order them as a main course, which includes three tacos. The lightly breaded and crisp grouper bites topped with the crunchy slaw mixed with a mayonnaise and Sriracha based sauce will have you hooked from the first bite. They are the perfect complement to an ice-cold beer or drink. A definite must have when visiting La Cueva del Mar.
El Jibarito

The food is very fresh and served by a friendly staff in a setting that feels as if you were eating in the mountain home of Puerto Rico's famed Jibarito farmer.
Enjoy excellent Puerto Rican fare such as 'Pasteles' a native style tamale filled with either chicken or pork or Mofongo a popular dish made from fried green plantains which is mashed together with broth, garlic, olive oil and pork cracklings. UBER
UBER is commonly used, affordable, and reliable in Puerto Rico! We take it everywhere when we are visiting.
Condado is a quick 15 minute Uber or Taxi from the Luis Muñoz Marín Airport!
We recommend downloading it on your phone before you come, it can be cheaper than renting a car if you plan on travelling around locally!
Most tours on Puerto Rico can pick you up at your hotel and transport you as well. You don't need to stay at the hotel to walk there and be picked up.
