Kendrick & Su Zie

Kendrick and Su Zie first met in 2008 at a High School Model United Nations conference in Singapore. Kendrick was representing "Australia" while Su Zie was representing "Bolivia", so they sat next to each other. Su Zie noticed Kendrick first when he gave his opening speech mentioning how that "without change, there would be no butterflies." At the conclusion of the MUN conference, Kendrick offered to share a Häagen-Dazs Orange and Dark Chocolate ice cream with Su Zie, and that was the beginning of their beautiful long-distance relationship.
Su Zie left South East Asia to attend Johns Hopkins University in Maryland and Kendrick followed by going to Stanford University in California. They maintained their long distance relationship through college, spending time over the holidays together and establishing traditions such as their annual Friendsgiving Feast. After graduating from Hopkins, Su Zie moved to Los Angeles to be closer to Kendrick who was working at NASA Ames Research Center. Finally, living in the same state, they would visit each other over weekends: exploring new places to eat, going to Disneyland, and traveling to different areas of California together.
When Kendrick got accepted to Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, he asked Su Zie to move with him after going through 8 years of long-distance dating. Su Zie and Kendrick recognized their marriage at the San Francisco City Hall, but decided to hold off a formal wedding ceremony with friends and family until after medical school. As a newlywed couple, they began a new chapter in their lives, finally living together in Baltimore, Maryland!
Kendrick and Su Zie share their love for food and travel. They traveled to almost 30 destinations together, exploring unique cultures and tasting unfamiliar cuisine in places such as Egypt, Bora Bora, Korea, Japan, France, Greece, and Mexico. Although Su Zie and Kendrick love to try local street food, their favorite restaurant through all their adventures together is Funky Gourmet in Athens, Greece. They like to bring home flavors of new and exotic dishes from abroad and try to recreate them at home together in the kitchen.
Kendrick and Su Zie moved — again! Kendrick graduated from medical school in May 2020, and he matched to Yale for Ophthalmology residency training. They are starting another chapter of their lives together and bought a beautiful home in New Haven, Connecticut, where they plan to start a family of their own. To celebrate this new chapter, Kendrick and Su Zie would love to invite you to their long-awaited wedding ceremony at San Francisco City Hall on October 22, 2022. They hope to see you there!

Tracy is Su Zie's younger sister. Because they are almost a decade apart in age, Tracy looks up to Su Zie as an older sister, and role model. They have an unbreakable bond. Su Zie and Tracy share a love of late night Korean dramas, Korean food and Kpop. Tracy is attending college at University of Wisconsin in Madison, where she plays on the golf team. She has an impressive history of competing in golf so ask her if you have any questions about golf! Tracy is very shy but once you get to know her, she is full of jokes and laughter.
Jane is a general surgery resident at UCSF, and she met Kendrick and Su Zie whileattending medical school at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. She instantly became good friends with Kendrick and Su Zie through late night study "parties", similar humor, and a love of food and travel. One of Jane and Su Zie's favorite things to do together when traveling is taking ugly photos (apologizes but no samples are available as these photos can never be public haha!).
Becca is an extremely talented interior designer in San Francisco right now. Kendrick and Su Zie first met Becca through Michael, Becca's boyfriend and Su Zie's close friend. Becca has been a big part of Kendrick and Su Zie's life. She helped the couple take beautiful engagement photos back in 2015 and became awesome friends through countless weekend trips together to Napa and LA, sharing similar interests in wine, food, and humor. Su Zie can always rely on and ask Becca for advices on style and fashion - she's the master!
Jonathan (also known as Jon) is a software engineer for a startup in the Bay Area, CA. Jon met Kendrick and Su Zie in Baltimore through Jane. The story of how Su Zie and Jon met when they were both in undergrad at Johns Hopkins is still questionable and unclear to this day. However, Jon became great friends with Kendrick and Su Zie through numerous trips and dinner plans together. Jon may be shy but he is a very interesting character - being allergic to almost everything but loves to be adventurous, has zero tolerance for spicy and shares a little too much of his bathroom experiences.
Chris is one of Kendrick's best and oldest childhood friends. He currently lives in the Bay Area where he works at Eurofins. Chris and Kendrick became friends in 3rd grade in Singapore. Between sharing many classes together and hanging out at school or the American Club, Chris and Kendrick both enjoyed exploring the diverse cuisine of Singapore and the world. They have taken many trips abroad together including Egypt and Cambodia. If you have any questions about the food industry, Chris is your man - he even studied Food Science at UC Davis!
Sheila is Kendrick's mother. She is currently a professor in the MBA school of the National University of Singapore and also serves on the Alumni Board of Directors for Stanford University. Sheila played a key role in Kendrick's passion to become a doctor by playing doctor-patient with him ever since he was young. She is happy to see how Su Zie is a strong independent women but still supports Kendrick in all his endeavors. Sheila enjoys traveling and exploring new countries, and she would love to tell you stories from her trips around the world!
Harrison is Kendrick's father. He has a background in robotics, with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, and works in investment banking as the Chairman of Gryphus Capital. Harrison is like a walking encyclopedia and knows a bit about everything from historical Chinese literature to Roman arch construction physics. In his spare time, he enjoys designing and overseeing construction of houses and gardening. So if you have any questions ranging from home improvement to what makes the world go round, feel free to ask!
Kimia is Su Zie's very first roommate from Johns Hopkins University and one of Su Zie's best friends. She is currently a internal medicine resident at UC Davis. Su Zie learned everything about the US from Kimia and Su Zie's college life would not have been the same without Kimia. Su Zie and Kimia's favorite memories from college include skipping orientation because Kimia got stung by a bee and Kimia thinking that Su Zie was in coma because Su Zie never went to class during winter. Su Zie often refers to Kimia as the "Iranian Goddess" because of her beauty! Sit back while Flight Stewardess Kimia guides you through the evening!
Sam is Su Zie's "unofficial" roommate from Johns Hopkins University and one of Su Zie's best friends. She is currently a family medicine resident in Virginia. Sam is Su Zie's savior and took her in with open arms when Su Zie had nowhere to stay. Su Zie just took over Sam's couch, and cooked and baked banana bread for Sam, Kimia and Annie. Sam is the world's most gentle and humble lady, and she runs crazy fast too! Sit back while Flight Stewardess Sam guides you through the evening!
