It was just another day at the office when Karina stopped by Scott’s jobsite to introduce herself and get an update on the schedule. This is when they first met, but at this time it was just another day and just another meeting. For Karina, it was just another pain in the ass contractor to deal with (and she’d say this still holds true today)!
El día que nos conocimos
Era un día común y corriente, cuando Karina llegó a la oficina de Scott a presentarse y actualizarse en el progreso de la construcción del edificio que Scott estaba a cargo. Este fue su primer encuentro, pero como cualquier otro día de trabajo, y cualquier otra junta. Para Karina, era llegar a otro proyecto y desesperarse en explicarle a otro contratista el proceso que necesitaba implementar (que hasta ahora Scott sigue sin entender!).
It wasn’t until a couple months later that Scott was preparing to go on a family vacation and had to cancel their weekly progress meeting. Jokingly, Karina told him to bring her back a keychain with her name on it because, after all, “Karina” is not a very common name and extremely hard to find on a keychain. Sooo, after Scott visited his 3rd souvenir shop in Surfside Beach, SC, he finally found a keychain with her name!
This is where their story begins….

No fue hasta un par de meses después, que Scott se preparaba para irse de vacaciones con su familia y tuvo que cancelar la junta de progreso semanal. En broma, Karina le dijo que trajera un llavero con su nombre, porque no era común encontrar "Karina" en un un llavero. Después de como 3 tiendas de souvenirs en Surfside Beach, South Carolina Scott finalmente encontró un llavero con el nombre de Karina!.
Y aquí es donde la historia empieza....
It was a Sunday afternoon in July of 2014 when Scott asked Karina to meet him at the Rattle Inn for a ranch water so he could give her a new keychain! That ranch water led them to Rainey St. and dancing with The Nightowls and then ended the evening at Piranha for sushi. The majority of that day was made by spontaneous decisions, which has been a common theme in their relationship.
Su primera cita
Fue un domingo en la tarde de Julio del 2014 cuando Scott le preguntó a Karina si podían verse en el Rattle Inn (un bar en Austin), para darle su nuevo llavero!. [La excusa]. Después de una (o dos) bebidas, fueron a Rainey St. a bailar al son de "The Nightowls" y terminaron cenando sushi en Piranha. La mayoría de su "cita" fue hecha de decisiones espontáneas, algo que ha sido el sello distintivo en su relación.
Since then, they have set out to explore the world wherever they go. Whether that’s in Costa Rica, Monterrey, the Smokey Mountains, Oregon, Colorado, or Peru to name a few.
A partir de ahí, se han propuesto explorar el mundo a donde sea que vayan. Ya sea en Costa Rica, Monterrey, "the Smokey Mountains", Oregon, Colorado o Perú, por nombrar algunos lugares.
Exploring breweries while on road trips, taking back roads to Monterrey in lieu of the highway (we don’t recommend this), seeing two Modern Wonders of the world, and maybe their craziest adventure….buying their first home together when they weren’t even looking for a house. All these adventures have led to them creating amazing memories, meeting new friends, and essentially building the life they have together today.
Explorando cervecerías en viajes, tomando la carretera libre de Laredo a Monterrey en lugar de la autopista (cosa que no recomendamos!), conocer dos de las Maravillas Modernas del mundo, y tal vez hasta su aventura más espontánea... comprar una casa juntos, cuando ni siquiera estaban buscando una. Todas estas anécdotas y aventuras los han llevado a crear recuerdos inolvidables, han conocido muchos amigos nuevos y básicamente es como han construido la vida que comparten juntos hoy.
There are several values we share, but one of the biggest things we value is each other. The support we provide for each other is what keeps our relationship strong and we both push each other to be better people than what we were the day before.
Ellos comparten muchos valores y valoran muchas cosas, pero una de las cosas más grandes, es el valor de tenerse el uno al otro. El apoyo que se dan entre ellos es lo que los mantiene unidos y con una relación muy fuerte. Los dos se motivan mutuamente para ser mejores personas dia a dia.
We also value our friends and family and know that we wouldn’t be where we are today without any of yall. This, we’re extremely thankful for, so after 5 years we’ve decided to begin our next chapter and we invite you to share in a day of our love and our lifelong commitment to each other on the beaches of Tulum, Mexico.
Valoramos mucho a nuestros familiares y amigos, y sabemos que no podríamos estar donde estamos sin cada uno de ustedes. Estamos muy agradecidos por esto, asi que, despues de 5 años, hemos decidido empezar nuestro siguiente capítulo juntos. Queremos compartir con ustedes el día de nuestro amor y nuestro compromiso de por vida en las playas de Tulum, México.
