Kali and Nick can thank Tinder for their introduction back in March of 2014. Kali was finishing up her last few months of her senior year at the University of South Carolina, when she matched with 25-year old Nick who was living in Augusta, GA at the time. They spoke non-stop for many weeks via phone and text until finally deciding to setup their first date. Nick drove in from Augusta after working The Masters that day and they met for lunch at The Gourmet Shop in Columbia, SC. The date wasn't a TOTAL disaster (minus a few hiccups), but there was enough intrigue and curiosity on both sides so they continued seeing each other. After many more dates, Nick even started traveling back and forth from Augusta to Columbia multiple times a week just to see Kali while she finished taking her finals.
But by the middle of that summer, with no job prospects or money, Kali's gravy train ran out and she was forced to move back to NY to live with her parents indefinitely. They were both devastated to be moving away from each other, feeling like this was the end of their road...so with no other option, they parted ways. However, after only a few months of Kali living in NY, her parents pulled the trigger and decided to relocate to Charleston, SC. Barbara and Leon were excited to be close to the beach and to the Winkowski Family's new home.
And just like that, with a stroke of luck, Kali and Nick were about to live only 2 hours away from eachother. They ecstatically reunited and then dated long distance for 1.5 years until Nick decided to relocate to Charleston permanently. They got their own townhouse together in Mt Pleasant and rescued a dog together (Nellie).
They lived blissfully, traveling the world for house music and making amazing friends along the way. And while on one of those trips to Ibiza in August of 2019, with their closest friends by their side, Nick proposed to Kali with his great grandmothers beautiful ring at the very top of the Hacienda Na Xamena resort. And only about 6 months after that, a new career opportunity brought Kali and Nick to Charlotte, NC permanently. Kali and Nick will celebrate 10 years together during their wedding month of March 2024 :)
