Our Story

We met on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, while I was attending Pharmacy School. Louis and I spent a few years admiring each other but we didn't really get a chance to know each other. After several nudges and subtle notes from Celia (Louis' Sister) we started our relationship in the fall of 2013. Fast forward to the summer of 2014 and I was graduating from Pharmacy School and beginning residency in Springfield, Massachusetts. Louis lived and worked in Philadelphia but spent all of his free time traveling to see me. The time we spent with one another proved our relationship was strong and everlasting. One of our favorite things to do is travel...Punta Cana, San Diego, Savannah, Tijuana, and Atlanta, just to name a few.  We purchased our first home in Landover, MD and continue to develop our flourishing long-distance relationship.

The Proposal

Louis proposed to me on November 6, 2016 at one of our favorite restaurants for brunch, Zengo(now closed) in Washington D.C.  As I walked up the stairs to find our table by the window, I noticed there was an obstruction of signage in the window.  Upon looking closer, I read the message "Kalani Will You Marry Me." Louis was behind me and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.  Celia was present to capture photos of this special moment and displayed the signs prior to our arrival.
