Getting to Aruba

Airport

All international flights to Aruba land at Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA). The airport includes several major rental car booths such as Budget, Enterprise, and National. The airport is about a 15 minute ride to the hotel area.

Passports

Please make sure that you have a valid passport for the trip. Your passport must be valid for up to 6 months after you return from the trip (U.S. rules). You can get a passport by going to your local Post Office. They cost around $150 and are valid for 10 years. Please make sure that you apply for your passport as soon as possible, they typically take 12 weeks to process but sometimes the U.S. government can run behind.

Rental Car

Most major car rental companies are present at the Aruba airport for you to pick up or drop off your vehicle or you can request pick-up at your hotel. While regular cars are suitable for a large part of sightseeing, for the more adventurous, it's a good idea to rent a four wheel drive vehicle since to reach certain sightseeing locations one must tackle rugged roads unsuitable for regular cars.

When we travel to Aruba we prefer to rent a jeep as we like to go exploring through the National Park. If you would prefer to rent a car through a major company, you can book directly from their website.

Taxi Information

Taxis are widely available in Aruba and can accommodate up to five passengers per taxi. Taxis in Aruba do not have meters since rates are based on destination rather than mileage, and are set by the Aruba Department of Public Traffic. All prices are per taxi not per person. (maximum five passengers allowed). On Sundays, official holidays and after 11 p.m. additional charges to the regular rates apply.
