Before You Leave Canada

Buy Medical Insurance

Please ensure you have the proper medical coverage before your departure.

Hospitals and emergency services are private in Indonesia and you will not be given medical attention until proof of insurance or payment is made.

Private providers are very expensive and you get what you pay for here.

Get Your Phone Unlocked

Before you leave make sure your cell phone is unlocked. Contact your cell phone provider and request for your phone to be unlocked.

With an unlocked phone and your passport you are able to get a tourist SIM card with an Indonesian number and internet data.

Internet data is inexpensive, you can get 10 GB for approximately $10 Canadian. With internet access on your phone, you will be able to use our Wedding App which has all the information you need during your stay. You will also be able to use Whats App and communicate with everyone and use Google Maps for navigating.

Having Whats App and Google Maps on your phone is a necessity while you are here.

Check Your Passport

Check your passport expiration date. Your passport must be valid for a minimum of 6 months, if not the airline may choose to block you from boarding your departure flight.

Vancouver International - Plaza Premium Lounge is located in International Departures after Security Screening on Departures Level 3.

Taipei International - Plaza Premium Lounge is located in Zone C and Zone D. The Lounge has complimentary food, beverages and showers.

Download the Priority Pass App for more Lounge information.

Taipei Airport Showers

After a long flight from Canada, get yourself refreshed with a free shower at the Taipei Airport. See the link for shower locations.

Bring/Buy Alcohol **

As Indonesia is a Muslim country alcohol is heavily taxed and quality liquor is very expensive.

All travelers are allowed 1 litre of liquor.

Either pack your favorite bottle in your CHECKED luggage or pick up a bottle at TAIPEI DUTY FREE.

Taipei Airport sells mainly Scotch, some Vodka, Gin and Rum.

Wine is available in Bali, so it is best to spend your money on hard liquor.

If you do not drink please bring 1 litre per traveler and we will buy your bottle off of you to serve at our wedding.

Transportation

Transportation from Bali Airport to Accommodation

For most if not all of you we will arrange a driver and van to meet you at the airport and take you to your accommodations.

If we have not arranged transport for you can take a Bluebird Taxi from the airport to your accommodation. Make sure the taxi driver runs the meter. You can expect to pay 200,000 Rupiah - 300,000 Rupiah which is approximately $20 - $30 Canadian.

FAQs

Can I use credit card to pay for my accommodation?

Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in Bali. Often businesses will charge you 2-2.5% to use your card. Please check with your accommodation prior to check in if they will accept credit card.

Should I bring cash from Canada, if so, how much?

It is recommended to travel with some American dollars as this currency is accepted anywhere, including whatever airport you are connecting through.

There are several money changers near our shop and we can show you where they are, you typically get a better rate outside of the airport.

Keep in mind you will likely be able to withdraw cash from an ATM with your Canadian debit card. Depending on your ATM withdrawal fees you may pay up to $7 Canadian to withdraw 2,000,000 - 3,000,000 million Rupiah at a time ($200-$300 Canadian equivalency).

Determining how much cash to bring is mainly based on your budget and how much you want to spend. Think about if you plan on shopping, eating out at nice restaurants, going to the spa and spending time at beach clubs.

Where do you (Chelsey and Jordan) live?

We live in Ungasan, south Bali in an area referred to as the Bukit. Our first shop, BGS is in Ungasan, a 5 minute drive from our house.

When booking your accommodations around the time of the wedding it is best to book a place in one of the following areas: Uluwatu, Padang-Padang, Bingin, and Balangan.

Is there WIFI?

Free wifi is readily available throughout Bali. Internet is generally fast and open.

If you have an unlocked phone you can get a SIM card with internet data and access online anytime and most anywhere.
