Although we wish that we could say exactly how we met, but actually, we don’t remember. Maybe it was during lunchtime, recess, or a passing glance in the auditorium of our school, Philippa Schuyler Middle School for the Gifted & Talented. Actually yeah, let’s go with that! But, what we can say is by luck or faith, we’ve been in each other's lives for over twenty years.
Through a shared best friend, we attended her birthday brunch in January 2017. Janelle was newly single and Jaamal asked a close friend to confirm his assumptions on if Janelle was "on the market". Later that day, Jaamal asked Janelle if she would go out on a date and she said yes. Obviously, that date went well.
After months of dating, Jaamal & Janelle made their relationship "official" on December 13th, 2017. On November 25th, 2020, Jaamal proposed to Janelle in Houston, TX in front of their families, and extended family & friends via Zoom.
