Whirlpool. Ahhh, yes, we met at work.
It was summer 2013, Todd was a new hire in the group Emily had been working in for a mere six months - the dryer product development team. It was on her way to the bathroom that Emily first crossed paths with Todd. She gave a brief hello to which there was no response.
As you can imagine, nothing became of this first awkward encounter.
About a year after Todd and Emily first met, they were both attending a young professionals event. Emily was chatting with their mutual friend Paula when Todd cut in with the opening line, "We would make tall babies." Emily piped back "Tall, beautiful babies."
Apparently, Todd thought it would be funny to throw out this line as a seemingly meaningless joke since Emily had been dating another guy. However, to Todd's surprise, Emily was now single.
For the next couple weeks, Paula became the go-between, trying to coordinate casual ways for them to bump into each other at social gatherings and helping to finally set Todd and Emily up on their first date.
The first date was sometime in October of 2014, followed by Halloween parties in the coming weeks.
Calling it official on November 16, 2014 - exactly five years before we'll be tying the knot!
We both love to travel and visit new places, which is the main reason for a destination wedding.
Our first big trip was to Europe in May 2015. We spent time in Germany and Italy before boarding a cruise to several different Greek islands.
Todd popped the question on Christmas Eve in 2017 at Emily’s parents home in Iowa. It was his first Christmas at the Coffman’s and he definitely made it a memorable one.
