Travel details
How to get to Santorini
By air:
The easiest way to get to the island of Santorini from Athens is via one of the multiple daily flights from Athens flying into Santorini (Thira) International Airport (JTR).
By ferry:
For those of you who want to choose a more adventurous path and enjoy a trip on the Aegean Sea, you may take a ferry from Athens (or whichever other nearby island) to Athinios Port on Santorini. High speed ferries from Athens take about 5 hours. Or you can opt for a more leisurely overnight ferry, which will take about 8-9 hours.
How to get around Santorini
To get around the island, you can either rent a car at the Santorini International Airport or take taxis. There is no Uber or Lyft on the island.
There is also a bus service that runs throughout Santorini, but all buses start from and return to Fira, the main town on the island.
Where to stay in Santorini
We have not reserved any room blocks, as most hotels are small and cannot accommodate large room reservations.
However, we recommend that you stay either in Fira (the main town which will have restaurants, bars, and easy transportation options), Imerovigli (the town where the ceremony and reception will take place), or Oia (the northermost part of the island, which boasts fantastic views and accommodations). Fira is about 10 minutes drive from the La Maltese Estate; Oia is about 15 minutes drive from the La Maltese Estate.
