Explore Mallorca
We hope you take some time to explore the island and see why we consider it such a special place. And if you’re afforded the time, our destination wedding could make for a brilliant mini-vacation.
Inés grew up spending every summer in Puerto Pollensa and has the best of memories from her time on the island. There are several beaches, restaurants and experiences we are eager to share with you all. Below we have included an initial list of suggestions, which we will continue to expand as the date gets closer.
The beaches and coves (calas) in Mallorca are paradise! If you can, we highly recommend renting a boat for a day to explore and access some of the best calas on the island that are not accessible by car (and therefore less crowded).
There are several boat rental companies available in the area - hotels and travel agents will be able to help find one that best fits your plans, and there are also several options to book directly online. Please see below for a list of our favorite calas near Puerto Pollensa:
- Formentor: Iconic beach / cove at the northern tip of the island (a bit more spacious than other coves listed below).
- Cala Boquer: Be sure to check out the hidden cave here! Ask your captain!
- Cala Figuera
- Cala San Vicente
- Coll Baix
- Cala Torta
- Cala Murta
If you will be on other parts of the island earlier in the week, here are other coves that we absolutely love too!
- La Foralada
- Sa Calobra
- Cala Mitjana
- Cala Marmol
- Cala Pi
The north of the island offers some beautiful spots for sightseeing, dining and drinks.
Es Colomer Viewpoint - Elevated lookout on the Formentor road with spectacular views of the sea & surrounding cliffs. If you want to go a bit further, go up to the Torre de Albercutx for a beautiful sunset.
Can Gavella, Muro - Cool beach restaurant on the sand dunes of Muro Beach.
Ponderosa Beach, Muro - The ultimate boho and relaxed restaurant, right next to Can Gavella, on Muro Beach.
La Trencadora, Pollensa Town - A great pizza spot with a charming courtyard. A great pizza spot with a charming courtyard in the heart of Pollensa’s Town.
365, Pollensa - The restaurant at Hotel Son Brull offers fine cuisine in a traditional Mallorca setting. Perfect if you're looking for something a little extra special.
GUST Santi Taura Restaurant, Muro - One of the best restaurants on the island and very difficult to get in so definitely book ahead.
Cal Patro, Cala San Vicente – Phenomenal Spanish food in this low-key family-owned beachfront restaurant.
La Lonja Restaurant, Puerto Pollensa - Traditional Mallorca food, excellent fresh fish, right on the port in Pollensa.
Stay Restaurant, Puerto Pollensa - Great seafood in the port in Pollensa.
Naciente Restaurant, Puerto Pollensa - Great tapas in the backstreets of Puerto Pollensa.
Los Faroles, Puerto Pollensa – Great restaurant for a good paella. If you have already tried a traditional paella, we recommend you order the “arroz negro” made with squid ink.
5 Oceanos, Alcudia – Chill out restaurant with international food and cocktails by the Port of Cocodrilo
Pollensa Market - every Sunday between 9am and 1.30pm the market in the centre of Pollensa attracts thousands of visitors with its stalls of local produce, arts and crafts. There are similar markets around the island every day of the week. Apart from Pollensa, the best ones to visit are Santanyi and Sineu.
Club de Golf Alcanada – If you are a golf lover don’t miss this beautiful golf course right on the water (~25 min. drive from Puerto Pollensa).
Cala Figuera, Pollensa – Stoney beach with crystal clear waters. Great place to snorkel or go for a quick swim post hike! The hike is simple and short and starts on the Carretera de Formentor, in the Tramuntana mountains.
Cala Bóquer, Pollença – This hike begins in the back streets of Puerto Pollensa and leads to the beautiful Cala Bóquer.
Puig de Maria, Pollença – Charming ancient monastery from the XIV century on the top of the Puig Mountain. From the top you will have a view of the bay of Pollença and the Tramuntana mountains.
Coll Baix, Alcudia – Beautiful secluded beach nestled into the Northern coastline of Mallorca only accessible by boat or by foot. The path down requires some climbing action, so make sure you come prepared: solid hiking shoes are a must for this one!
If you decide to rent a car we advise exploring the rest of this beautiful island:
Palma - Mallorca's Capital city. Be sure to include La Seu Cathedral and the area of La Lonja in your stops.
Valldemossa – Stunning town in the mountains. Drive a bit further along the mountain coastline, to the town of Deia, where we recommend that you have lunch at Cas Patro March. Be sure to book ahead or you won't get in and bring cash as they do not take credit cards.
Soller – Charming town and port.
Playa Es Trenc – Miles of white sand and turquoise water.
Sa Calobra - An unique part pebble/part sand beach situated at the end of a gorge made by the Torrent de Pareis. The beach gets its name from the very windy road leading to it.
Port of Andratx - A beautiful fisherman's port with lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and galleries.
