Geneviève Lalonde and John Rasmussen met on November 15th at a party. Forgetting to ask for Gen's number at the party, John asked his roommate, Amélie for her number and assured Gen with a text of, "I'm not a creep" as they arranged a hot beverage date on November 18th (they did not drink coffee at the time - what a bunch of kids). They spent the next 2 and a half hours in the coffee shop before Gen had to take the bus back to the university for a weights workout and John rode his bike back home in the snow . They have spent nearly everyday together since traveling, training, racing, internet calling, potlucking with friends, hanging with their families, and being together even when they are a world apart. All those adventures and all those lovey dovey feels added up to a hike in the woods leading to their engagement on July 1st, 2019. Gen said "of course" and "yes" an umpteen number of times to affirm the proposal and John assured Gen that it was just sweat coming from near his eyes and definitely not tears. Something of a similar event with hopefully a few more people and an equal amount of ridiculous dancing has been scheduled on October 17th, 2020. At La Grange Manson aka The Manson Barn, Gen and John have invited a few close family and friends who have been apart of their ridiculous journey to their wedding celebrations aka fancy dress up party with lots of food, dancing, and "hot beverages" and "cold beverages". They hope that you can join them as they celebrate all the incredible adventures that have led to this moment and that will lead into the next.
