It was August 9, 2017 when Shechianh and Alan’s love story first began. Shechianh first heard of Alan through her first cousin, Darlene, who spoke very highly of him and suggested the two should talk. About the same time, Alan was strongly encouraged to speak to Shechianh through a friend, who happened to be Shechianh’s second cousin, AJ. Although Shechianh didn’t necessarily like matchmaking she reluctantly agreed to a Facebook perusal and was open to a conversation if he was interested. And interested he was; and it turned out to be a Facebook encounter of the best kind.
After 3 months of getting to know each other through phone conversations, text messaging and video chat, Alan grew more interested and wanted to officially meet Shechianh, face to face, and in living color! He purchased a plane ticket and flew her to Michigan to meet him for his birthday.
As Shechianh lined up to exit the plane her heart started beating faster and though nervous she was also excited to finally meet him. After they greeted each other he grabbed her suitcase, opened the door for her and she was immediately smitten by his chivalry.
Throughout their long distance relationship Shechianh and Alan engaged in adventurous and fun things together.They enjoyed ice skating, indoor skydiving, horseback riding, visiting an amusement park, and seeing a hockey game, to name a few. As their relationship grew they spent time with each other’s family and friends, as well.
Shechianh and Alan are ecstatic that the Lord has a plan for their destiny to become husband and wife. They can’t wait to have you share their special day with them.
Shechianh had planned a birthday weekend with her family. Little did she know this would become her best birthday ever. It all started on Friday, December 27, 2019 when Alan called Shechianh to ask if a package had arrived from him. Shechianh searched all through the house and found no package. Alan said okay I’m tracking your package and it should arrive by 6pm. After the phone conversation ended Shechianh left home to run an errand. When she returned home Alan was sitting at the kitchen table. My package had arrived. Shechianh immediately looked shocked and began grinning from ear to ear and ran to give him a big hug.
The next day Shechianh had planned a birthday dinner. However, Alan had something special up his sleeve. Prior to traveling to the restaurant Alan said let’s stop at the park. Shechianh thought it was weird, but replied okay. As they got out of the car and came to the gazebo they stopped walking. This was the moment! Alan got down on one knee and pulled out a small red box and asked Shechianh to marry him. Shechianh replied “YES”!
Upon arrival at Shechianh’s birthday dinner Alan had his parents and siblings at the restaurant as well. This was another one of Alan’s surprises. During their dating years she had mentioned she wanted an engagement dinner where both of their immediate family could all be together. Well her request was granted and it turned out to be her “I said YES” birthday.
