In a shocking turn of events, it’s been an entire year since we got married. This year has been packed with some really big life changes, but we got through it together and are enjoying life in NYC.
To celebrate this first year, we will be going out tonight for dinner and drinks and we’ve decided to release our wedding video to you, our honored guests.
When we think back to our wedding day, we feel overwhelming gratitude to all of you who traveled to be with us, and made June 5, 2022 so memorable. Please enjoy!

Hi everyone!
Regarding our welcome cocktail party, we've had some questions about what cocktail attire is. Here is a great article from Brides which sums it up:

Please note, Diego will be in a suit and tie, and I will be in a tea length velvet dress. Cocktail attire leans formal in terms of dress code. So if in doubt, ladies dress up or bust out your LBD and heels. Men, don a suit or a nice pair of jeans and a blazer.
Also, we will be serving light bites (think charcuterie and canape) at the welcome party, and will have an open bar. Please be sure to be on time as this event will also be professionally photographed!

At this point, you're probably thinking "what on earth is garden formal"? Essentially, it is a formal dress code but takes into account that you will be outside while it's warm, and you will be in a garden setting. Think black tie, but make it light.
Dresses should range from just beneath the knee to floor-length, and in lighter colors and fabrics than you would typically wear at a black-tie wedding. Pastels, florals, flowy fabric, those trendy spaghetti strap satin dresses would all be appropriate. This would be a great setting to wear a fascinator if you have ever wanted to (I would be pretty thrilled if you wore a fascinator...). For shoes, I would not recommend stilettos. We will be on grass for part of the day and on cobblestone part of the day.
Traditional suits can be worn, but if you've ever wanted to sport a lighter-colored suit or a linen suit, this would be the perfect time. You could also get creative with lighter-colored ties.
Please keep in mind, we are going to be in Southern Italy, and outside all day. It will likely be in the high 70's and sunny, so bring a paper fan. Once it gets dark, the temperature will probably drop to the low 60's. Bring a shawl or a light coat.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience as we navigated wedding planning through what has been one of the most difficult periods of our lives. We've encountered deaths and illness in our families, our own personal health issues, and no shortage of setbacks due to the pandemic.
But life goes on. We got through it together and are stronger for it. Even though we'd have liked to already be married by now, we know that when we say "I Do" it will be that much more meaningful for the life experiences we've had in the last 18 months. The wedding is on and we are so happy to be celebrating in beautiful Italia!

Friends and Family - Since we became engaged in November 2019 we have been excitedly planning all the details of what promises to be one of the happiest days of our lives. We looked all over the world to see where we could host an event that is uniquely us and had settled on a garden wedding in Lisbon, Portugal to take place in May 2021.
Unfortunately, coronavirus (and the possible impending second wave of coronavirus) has made planning this happy occasion all the more difficult. Travel (especially abroad) is very restricted around the world right now and carries a lot of risks, especially for the elderly and immunocompromised. There are a lot of unknowns, and none of us know when we will truly be comfortable moving around the world as we did pre-Covid. We do not want to cause undue stress and ask our loved ones to travel to our wedding and place themselves in an uncomfortable position.
As a result, we are postponing our wedding. We will continue to plan so that when it is safe and realistic to ask you all to fly and attend a large gathering, it is a fun, happy, and memorable trip for everyone. We anticipate, and hope, that this will be the case in late spring or early summer of 2022.
We will post updates on this site from time to time, including an updated timeline once we figure that out, and look forward to celebrating our marriage with you all.
Much Love,
The future Retana-Pagdens
