How We Met

Almost seven years ago, Edwin and Erika were setup the old-fashioned way through a mutual friend. Edwin came to Erika’s soccer game, where they grabbed a drink with the team afterward. Erika was worried about not looking her best. She didn’t realize that Edwin was an avid soccer fan, and she had already scored significant points for playing. Erika and Edwin instantly connected and bonded through their love of soccer, travel, photography, live music, and trying out new restaurants.

Laughter is in our DNA

Edwin’s son, Angel, is an integral part of their lives. He is an amazing young man with the best sense of humor and heart. Edwin and Erika are very proud of him. Their group chats with one another are one big comedy show. Edwin and Erika love it when Angel visits or they take family vacations together. Some of their fondest memories are going to see Depeche Mode, Hawaii, and Universal with Angel. All three are avid Harry Potter fans.

Welcome Home

In 2018, Edwin and Erika purchased a home in Gurnee, IL. One year later, they adopted Bella, a rescue puppy who has brought immense joy and laughter. It was through Bella and her daily walks that they met their neighbors. Edwin and Erika love their neighborhood, the sense of community, and the strong friendships built. Edwin and Erika look forward to hosting their annual Halloween pre-trick or treat party for the neighborhood children and families.

Life is an adventure

Edwin and Erika have traveled extensively throughout their relationship - they have visited six countries and multiple US cities. They love discovering new places, trying new cuisines, learning about different cultures, and photographing landscapes and architecture. One of their favorite things is jumping on a train and seeing the countries they are exploring.

The Proposal

Unbeknownst to Erika, Edwin had been trying to propose for weeks.  Edwin said he had tried to go downtown Chicago with Erika multiple times, but each time, she stated she preferred to stay close to home, much to his dismay.

One afternoon, Edwin finally got Erika to go downtown and stated there was a spot he wanted to take pictures.  As they were walking downtown Chicago, Erika noticed they were walking by The Red Headed Piano Bar, one of the places they went on their first date.  When Erika turned to Edwin and said, "look", Edwin was down on one knee.

London Love

A destination wedding fits into their journey as a couple. They look forward to sharing their love of London with you. As a couple, Edwin and Erika have visited London four times, and each time, they discover something new and fall in love with the city and the UK all over again.

After almost seven years together, we can't wait to celebrate with all of you on July 13! We are looking forward to you being a part of our special day.
