Eric + Brittany

Brittany had just finished the Twin Cities Marathon 2017 and decided to do some solo traveling through a couple states before heading back home to Florida for a college roommate's wedding on October 7, 2017. Brittany traveled through Iowa, Wisconsin and ended in Michigan. 

Upon arriving at her Michigan AirBnB in Dearborn Heights on Thursday, October 5, 2017, Brittany had her last night free of planned activities so she decided to Google local things to do in the Detroit area. Brittany stumbled upon B. Nektar Meadery in Ferndale. Recognizing the name from a bottle of mead she had previously, she decided to just go and check it out.

Brittany arrived at B. Nektar, chose a table with a menu of drinks, picked a drink to order and went up to the bar. Upon completing her order, she realized another group took her table. Not minding, she chose another table and proceeded to enjoy her drink.

Moments later, a gentleman came over to Brittany and shared that he heard that his group had stolen her table and asked Brittany if she would like to come back to "her" table and join the group for Trivia Night that was about to start. She said yes.

Once again at "her" table, that same gentleman requested that group save a seat at the table because he had a friend that would be arriving soon. 

Five minutes later, Eric walks in and takes the chair right next to Brittany. 

Eric and Brittany stories vary at this point.. but needless to say, there was a spark of connection that night during Trivia. Before departing ways, Eric and Brittany exchanged phone numbers and spoke on the phone every day for three straight weeks before Eric came down to Florida and in a whirlwind weekend of events planned by Brittany, Eric asked Brittany on October 21, 2017 to officially become his girlfriend before returning home to Michigan.

Eric planned a weekend full of fun events for their one-year dating anniversary. Brittany loved the surprises and just following along with whatever was next on the agenda for the weekend.

On Sunday, October 21, the official one-year dating anniversary, Eric shard with Brittany that they would be going kayaking on the Wekiva River. They packed lunches and drinks for a fun few hours. 

After a couple hours kayaking, Eric shared that they should pull off the river and eat. They chose a new "island" to stop on and set up our picnic. Beginning to go to town on her sandwich, Eric starts to become very serious with his words. Brittany remembers jokingly asking Eric "Should I put down my sandwich for this?" Eric said "Sure" and proceeded to share beautiful things about the year they had shared together.

Eric asked Brittany to stand and then he got down on one knee and said "Brittany, will you marry me?" Nearly jumping with joy, Brittany exclaimed "YES!" and "You had this ring in your pocket for the WHOLE trip?!"
