We met at a mutual friends leaving party and immediately locked eyes.
After discussing our respective football teams, Emma questioned Martyn's upcoming move to Australia, explaining her equal interest in moving overseas. Martyn's response was simple, 'Come with me'... and she said she would!
Little did they know the series of events this playful conversation would start!
Both lovers of travel, we didn't hang about and booked our first trip together to Lisbon, followed by the Bahamas for NYE.
We celebrated our first New Year together with the news that our visas for Australia had been approved. We were off! Some of our friends thought we were a bit bonkers after only knowing each other for 6 months, but hey, when you know, you know!
Off went Martyn to Australia to begin work, whilst Emma had friend's weddings and business to attend to, meaning they did long distance for 4 months.
However Martyn came up with an elaborate plan for a surprise visit back to the UK for Emma's 30th birthday! Needless to say she was lost for words!
We loved our first year living Down Under with so many new places to explore, new friends to be made and Vegan dining galone.
We also had the pleasure of our families joining us for Christmas and meeting for the first time. Luckily Martyn's chilled Jamaican family got on with Emma's talkative Irish Father!
Martyn popped the question, much to Emma's surprise after a long scenic walk on Philip Island, a short drive from Melbourne. He was cool, calm and collected and obviously Emma said yes!
We threw an engagement party for our Aussie mates in July on our rooftop apartment! A wonderful BBQ, Drinks and our friend's DJing. We danced until the early hours :)
We are very excited for our future ahead; getting married, a long honeymoon and buying a house.
We can't wait to celebrate our love with you all soon!
