Mehndi (henna) is a paste associated with positive energy and good luck. At the ceremony, mehndi is applied to the hands, forearms, and/or feet. The core significance of applying Mehndi is to utilize its natural medicinal remedies, cool the body and relieve the bride of any stress before her big day. It also looks beautiful! It will be a fun event with lunch and of course mehndi for all who wish to partake.
The word 'Sangeet' translates from Sanskrit to ‘sung together’, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding it translates to Musical party. It is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families and friends. This event includes dances performed by relatives and friends. Dinner will be served.
The haldi (turmeric) ceremony is held on the morning of the wedding ceremony. Haldi paste is mixed with sandalwood, milk and rose water. Friends and family are invited to apply haldi to the couple for luck, health, to drive away pre-wedding jitters, and to ensure they have that extra glow before the wedding. Turmeric has medicinal properties that are believed to protect them from all kinds of ailments and ‘evil eyes’.
Lunch will be served after the Haldi ceremony.
