After unknowingly attending the same events for a few years, in 2017 Nick and Emily were introduced at Nick’s housewarming party in Bondi (Thank you to Rachel and Becca Tikey). A few months later Emily reached out to Nick and they went on their first date. Nick packed a picnic and they spent the whole afternoon at the beach swimming, eating and drinking wine. They’ve been inseparable ever since!
In July of last year, Emily and Nick were on a European holiday for their very good friends’ wedding in Italy. They went to France together afterward to visit the Bordeaux region, as you all know, they love wine. On a day out wine tasting in Saint Emillion they stopped for lunch at this gorgeous restaurant called Logis de la Cadène. In the middle of their meal Nick got down on one knee and asked Emily to spend the rest of her life with him- it was an obvious yes. After the happy tears, the staff brought over a glass of champagne, saying it was from the couple behind them. When they turned around to thank them they found out the couple had gotten engaged on the same day, 26 years prior! What makes the proposal even more special is that Nick had flown out to Arizona before their European vacation to ask Emily’s mom and dad in person for her hand in marriage. Emily didn’t find out until five weeks later when he popped the question!
