It all started on November 18, 2018, at the wedding of Mark’s sister Martina to Sam.

Sam and Dina knew each other as their parents were friends. They later re-connected when they attended the same church, and played on the church Softball team together (Dina was, of course, abysmally bad).

Through Martina, Sam also became close to Mark and got to know him well.

On his wedding day (which also happens to be his birthday), Sam conspired to get Dina and Mark together by any means necessary. This might’ve included telling her mom of his match-making plans, and dragging Dina across the dance floor to Mark (in view of half the guests).

After the wedding, there was only time for one double date with Sam and Martina before Mark had to fly back home to Vancouver and then back to Louisiana to complete his rotations.

Six months of phone calls and facetimes later, Mark and Dina confessed that they loved each other and wanted to go the distance. Two more months after that, they were finally able to meet again in person and the rest is history!

There is so much more to our story than we can fit here. We’ve experienced countless answered prayers. We’ve also experienced seasons of difficulties and seasons of waiting that we couldn’t understand at the time. Seasons where all we could do was have faith, wait and pray.

We’ve gotten to see how God used these seasons to show us that He is enough and that His timing and His plan are perfect.

On anniversaries, we never cease to marvel at what God has done. And so, we say “The Lord has done amazing things for us. What Joy.” (Psalm 126:3).
