Our First Date

Our first date was at a quirky cocktail bar in West Hampstead back in February 2020. I was charmed by his banter and wit, and he nearly fell of his chair meeting someone who had never watched Netflix or used Instagram. He actually won me over with his Netflix reccos, and I mesmerised him with my smile.

Little did we know a national lockdown would shortly follow - but we made it work with good old fashioned telephone calls, virtual movies nights and long (romantic) walks - and now we've locked each other in!

About the Groom - What she said!

He certainly was the ‘Fresh Prince’ growing up in Alperton - selling chocolate digestive biscuits at the school gates to fund his trips to the local chippy.

After his career as a rapper failed (yes - I have a video), he started working in "commerial finance" (aka accounting) for the company that makes Häagen Daz. That’s how he tried to impress me on our first date but it didn't work as I prefer Ben & Jerry's!

He loves nothing more than a cold pint of beer, together with his one true passion - Chelsea Football Club. He once cancelled a date when he forgot Chelsea were playing...he even claims watching Chelsea win the Champions League live in Porto to be the greatest day of his life (even ahead of our upcoming wedding)!

His impressions of people are surprisingly radio-worthy, he is the best human hot water bottle you will ever find, and he genuinely is the best giver of advice (that includes fashion advice for me).

I cannot wait to create more memories and join the family as the newest Chelsea cheerleader x

About the Bride - What he said!

A ball of energy which you can feel (and hear!) as soon as she enters the room – enough to brighten any mood!

MUST BE FED AT ALL TIMES, I now understand ‘Hangry’ is a real thing.

Can be found conversing with horses or sheep from behind a fence, but is terrified of anything that is not human approaching her – even Squirrels.

Loves a good board game/card game/TV game show appearance and is super competitive so be prepared...Having fun and losing are mutually exclusive!

Sometimes I feel like a seatbelt is not enough to protect me when she drives, and that she bought her driving license on eBay (Reverse parking is never an option). Not usually an issue however, as she would rather walk from Sudbury to Hammersmith to avoid paying for parking (true story).

As most of the Lohana community have mentioned to me, ‘you are taking one of our good ones’. She is one of the purest and warmest souls you will ever meet and I can't wait to call her Mrs Bhatt!

The Proposal Story!

Well in short - he had a believable cover story so the proposal was a complete surprise! He proposed in our favourite local gardens that we spent most of lockdown in - it was all very romantic - lights, candles, pictures from our dates & even some of our favourite songs playing in the background.

He claims his knee was hurting after being kept waiting so long -  well, it's not every day you get proposed to - so the moment was savoured before he heard a 'yes'!
