Paris Airports

The two major airports near Paris are Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG) and Paris Orly Airport (ORY).

Paris-Charles de Gaulle is one of Europe’s biggest hubs for air travel and a 30-minute taxi ride from the city's center.

Paris Orly Airport is Paris’ smaller and closer airport at only a 25-minute taxi ride from the center of the city.

The article linked below has additional helpful information regarding Paris airports.

Things to Do in Paris

Restaurants

Paris and excellent food are practically synonymous making it very difficult for you to go wrong with any Parisian restaurant. Here are a few tips and some of our favorite restaurants:

The Eater has a great list of over thirty restaurants throughout the city. Every restaurant we have picked from this site has never disappointed us!

The Rue du Montparnasse, not far from the Gare Montparnasse, is a center of authentic Breton crêperies. There are at least a dozen crêperies in one block on this street, between the Boulevard du Montparnasse and Boulevard Edgar Quinet. La Crêperie Bretonne is one of our favorites. A savory galette is perfectly paired with a brut cider - trust us!

Sites to See

What’s a trip to Paris without a visit to the Louvre, Tour Eiffel, or Notre Dame? Check out this list of top tourist attractions in Paris for some ideas. Montmartre, Halli’s favorite area in Paris, simply cannot be missed. As home to some of the world’s greatest artists such as Van Gogh, Toulouse Lautrec, and Picasso, the neighborhood is steeped in art history and tends to be less touristy.

Once you’ve had your fill of exploring the classic Parisian sites, Condé Nast has created a long list of popular sites in Paris that won’t disappoint including Musée Rodin, Shakespeare and Company, and the Paris Picasso Museum.

If you’re feeling particularly adventurous and brave, go for a tour of The Paris Catacombs twenty meters beneath the city.

Transportation

Getting Around Paris

Paris has one of the world's most convenient and expansive public transportation systems. The most popular method of transportation is the Paris Metro. The underground system has sixteen interconnected lines spanning over 133 miles. The Paris Metro has a few ticket options. We purchased the 2-day Paris Visite travel card which gave us unlimited use of the metro, bus, and RER (a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and the suburbs - a convenient option for those interested in taking the metro from the Charles de Gaulle Airport into the city).

For the more tech-savvy travelers, the Paris Metro has recently developed an app "Bonjour RATP." Once you purchase a Navigo Easy Pass at any Paris Metro station, you can activate the Pass by tapping it on your phone and then using the app to reload your Navigo Easy Pass. The app is also extremely helpful for generally navigating the city. It helps plan your route door-to-door, get travel time estimates, learn of service disruptions, learn which trains to take, and where to stand on the platform.

Finally, Uber is another great option for getting around the city. Uber is much cheaper in Europe than in the US.

For those interested in spending time in Paris before or after the wedding weekend, we highly recommend checking out Airbnb. They have a great selection of apartments and studios throughout the city. They do tend to sell out pretty quickly. Here's a link to a few options.

Directions & Map

Getting to Ferrières-en-Brie from Paris

For those of you staying in Paris before/after the wedding weekend, there are two ways to get from Paris to Ferrières-en-Brie. The easiest option for those traveling with luggage is Uber. Depending on traffic and where you’re coming from in the city, an Uber right can take around 40-50 minutes. The second option is the metro. Paxton MLV is a quick fifteen-minute walk from the Bussy-Saint-George train station where you can take the RER A to Gare de Lyon (a central hub for all metro lines), Châtelet Les Halles (adjacent to the Louvre and Jardin du Palais Royal), and Auber (close to Palais Garnier and Printemps Haussmann).

Getting to Ferrières-en-Brie from Charles de Gaulle Airport

In addition to Uber, you may also take public transportation from CDG Airport to Ferrières-en-Brie.

Getting to Ferrières-en-Brie from Orly Airport

The easiest and fastest way to get from Orly Airport to Ferrières-en-Brie is by Uber, but it is also possible to take public transportation.
