“In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours. In all the world, there is no love for you like mine.”
– Maya Angelou
This love story began in Tallahassee, a place where most people go to live their best college years with no pressure. Anise and Felix had that in mind as well but life had other plans. In the spring of 2014, Anise and Felix met while they were working as aftercare teachers. Anise saw Felix and took the chance when their director added all of the aftercare teachers to a group chat.
They eventually went on their first date and despite a few mishaps, that night was the beginning of something beautiful. Anise and Felix’s relationship has been far from traditional but they have managed to nurture their love for one another through it all. They have been one another’s biggest fan, coach and critic.
Their love is unique because they have fought the test of time and distance. Literally. Anise left Tallahassee in May 2014 to start rotations in South Florida and shortly after, Felix left for basic training February/March 2015. They both accomplished all of their goals and they set out to do while being one another’s biggest supporters and greatest love. Due to Felix being in the Armed Forces, they did not always have the luxury of being with one another physically. But for Anise and Felix, this was minor in comparison to their love and passion for one another. For most, the distance and time apart would put a strain on a relationship but for these two incredible souls, it allowed their love for each other to become deeply rooted and blossom into an incredible human being named Avery. Avery Derison blessed this earth and them on January 20, 2017.
In December 2018, while on a trip to Paris, with the Eiffel Tower as their backdrop, Felix asked Anise to spend the rest of her life with him. Fast forward 2 years, hundreds of face time calls, thousands of traveled miles and two unending hearts later, here we are, celebrating a love that has stood the test of time, distance and faith.
