Due to Covid, processing time has increased, causing delay in passports. If you will be attending the wedding and need a first-time passport OR need to renew your passport, please do this ASAP. We're currently looking at 18 weeks for processing new passports.
Please also check your expiration date on your current passport. It must be valid 6 months from your return date. Mexico has an entry requirement of 6 months trailing passport validity.
Guests will have to fly into Cancun International Airport (CUN) to get to Hotel Xcaret in Playa Del Carmen. There are direct flights from both Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The resort is approximately 1 hour from the airport.
The room block ensures that there will be room availability during our wedding week, as this is a very popular resort that books out quickly. The sooner you reserve with your deposit, the better. There's an initial deposit of 1 night of your reservation required by July 11th, 2022. The discount is an ALL-INCLUSIVE room rate and includes shared roundtrip airport transfer. Per hotel policy, ALL guests must stay a minimum of 3 nights in order to attend our wedding ceremony and reception. (If you click the link below you’ll see the suites).
Since you'll be booking your room with our group, private transportation to and from the airport (CUN) is included! When you land at CUN, outside your terminal you will have access to a lounge exclusive to Hotel Xcaret, there you will meet one of the hotel staff. They'll be holding a Hotel Xcaret sign!
The shuttle runs daily:
Every 30 mins between 6AM - 9PM
Every 60 mins between 9PM - 6AM
Hotel Xcaret offers a couple of options for guests who are staying at the resort with their children.
OPTION 1: The hotel has an on-site complementary Kids Club for children ages 4-12, between the hours of 10 AM - 10 PM.
OPTION 2: Hotel Xcaret is also partnered with an outside agency named Kangaroo that offers paid 24/7 babysitting services. All kangaroo babysitters are certified in first aid. If you decide to book a babysitter through Kangaroo, a babysitter will travel to your room at Hotel Xcaret where they will babysit your little one(s). The most recent reported rates are $15/hour, with a minimum of 2 hours. There is also a transportation fee that will be added to your total, which will be $10 before 10 PM and $15 after 10 PM.
We know travel to a foreign country can be worrisome! But we love each and every person we've invited to our wedding and would never ask them to do anything that we felt would put them in danger. That is why we have included a link to the United States Travel Advisory for Mexico. There are no travel warnings for the Quintana Roo state (where our wedding will take place). We've included the paragraph from the web-page below for your convenience;
“There are no restrictions on travel for U.S. government employees in Quintana Roo state, which include tourist areas in: Cancun, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and the Riviera Maya.”
That being said, parts of Mexico are considered very dangerous and we wouldn't recommend traveling outside the Quintana Roo area without a tour guide. Another thing to note is the areas mentioned on the travel advisory site are nowhere near where we are going! In fact, the closest "do not travel" area is over 22 hours away.
