Our love story began in 2013 as two young people, both in pursuit of God’s perfect plan for our lives through a Christian discipleship programme called Young and Emerging Leaders. Melody’s beauty and infectious smile captured my heart from the moment I laid eyes on her. It became clear to me pretty quickly after we started talking casually, that Melody will one day become my wife. So I pursued her with purpose and clear intentions. However, she didn’t see the light at the time and I was relegated to the friendship zone, lol!
Fast forward to 2019, God reconnected us at a time both our hearts were ready for love. I followed my heart and every step I took was in clear obedience to prompting from the Holy Spirit. As time progressed, Melody began to see the light and our affection for one another quickly blossomed from friendship to romance.
Melody is truly the PERFECT woman for me. She is everything I need and I look forward to everything the future holds for us.

The truth is that Dayo knew I was his wife when he showed interest in me in 2013. I like to skip over this part of our story, but as you can imagine, Dayo loves to tell our story from the very beginning and remind me of this fact! In summary, I didn’t see the light at that time. But I’m grateful that God gave me a second chance when we reconnected years later….
One day a message from Dayo popped up on my Instagram. He was asking me if I had changed my number, because he had tried to reach out to me with no response. I gave him my new number and he called me that night. At the end of the conversation he said ‘Talking to you has made my day’.
Then came the day that changed everything! One Sunday, Dayo googled the address of my church and showed up unexpectedly to surprise me. He sat quietly at the back, took a picture of the stage and sent it to me during the service. And that’s how I found out he was there! I was shocked and impressed. He had picked a restaurant for us to go to after church and (like the age-old cliche) we sat and talked for hours. He wore his heart on his sleeve and didn’t shy away from any topic. I went home that day knowing I was falling for him.
He continued to woo me with his transparency, his generosity and his love. He patiently waited for me to see what he had seen all those years ago. He created a safe place for me, so safe that I chose to trust him with my heart.
I said YES to Dayo with no hesitation that he is God’s best for me. And I’m looking forward to saying YES to him for the rest of our lives!
