The Proposal

The weekend of the 3rd of November was truly the most amazing weekend of my life! Craig arranged a surprise weekend. I did not have a clue where I was going! When we arrived in Clarens I was so excited, but this was not the final destination, as Craig said that we were just stopping there for lunch and then moving on. Finally the great surprise was revealed! We arrived at Golden Gate! The Mountain Reserve Retreat was our little "pozzy" for the weekend.

Saturday morning we were up very early, we made a full English breakfast, just a lot healthier, as we forgot to pack oil, salt and pepper! However, we managed to make a plan! We then hit it out back to Clarens for a day filled with adventure. We started off doing a 50m Absail! To Craig's shock I was ready to run down the mountain... he on the other hand was not feeling so comfortable. We both made it down and couldn't believe the adrenaline of going down the mountain. We had a quick half an hour break, where we were refreshed with a delicious Mojito and Strawberry Daiquiri followed by a 2 hour quad ride back up the mountain! Afterwards we were both exhausted and instead of returning to the house to cook, we had fish and chips at a beautiful restaurant with live music. We sang along and had a blast. Craig couldn't sit down for too long before he initiated the next adventure. In a huge rush, we headed back to the cabin to get our snacks and champagne for sun downers on top of the mountain, when we managed to get a puncher!!! Yes, on the smallest, quietest, little private road to our place! It was hilarious! I have never seen a tyre changed so quickly in my life. We quickly got back packed champagne and puddings and went up an incredibly steep mountain with NO path? But determined to find the sun set!

The view was breath taking and while taking a selfie together, Craig interrupted me with the most beautiful speech ... Yes, this is where he asked for my hand in marriage!!!
"YES!! YES!! YES!! Of course!!!!" I said.

I am truly blessed! I have my best friend as my fiance, HE is MINE Forever! I cannot wait to be YOUR Mrs Watson!

With paintings and artifacts from the tribes to capture an African theme in essence and presence, allowing you to immerse yourself in our South African culture.

MAIN BUILDING - Rooms in the main building are furnished with modern furniture and necessary amenities. They give you the maximum comfort and make you feel at home. In addition, you will discover taste of an African tribe as each room is dedicated to different tribes of the region.

TRADITIONAL AFRICAN ROOMS - Traditional African Rooms are located in separate annex buildings The Village Shango La Hashu (My home In the Venda Language)Each room is dedicated to a tribal leader and decorated in the tribal taste that allow you to experience the essence and exhilaration of relaxing African style living. Of course, the modern equipment in the rooms will ensure your comfort as well.

All our rooms is fully equipped to 4 star standards with:

• Under counter fridge

• Wireless connectivity( hot spot)

• Coffee and tea making facilities

• Working desk for the business traveller

• En-suite bathroom with shower and toilet.

Continental/ English breakfast: Breakfast is served from
