Returning Home

Shuttle Info

Once you’re checked in with the resort upon arrival, confirm your return shuttle pickup details with the resort’s Apple Vacations representative. This can be done at the Apple Vacations desk in the hotel check-in area

The representative will ask for the return ticket form which was given to you when you checked in for the shuttle ride from the airport to the resort, confirm your flight details, and set your shuttle pickup time. It is typical for them to book you to arrive at the airport 3 hours before your flight. Expect to leave the resort about 3½ hours before your flight.

Please note that on your day of departure, if late check out is not available, do not worry. This amazing hotel provides "departure dressing rooms". It is like a mini hotel room with a shower, couch, full bath - everything you need to change out of your swimsuit and into your airplane gear. No need to hurry either, these rooms are available for 45 min per group.

The bellman will take your luggage card (if you have checked your luggage at the concierge after checking out of your room earlier). They will then lead you to your dressing room, while they go and grab your bags for you. They will bring the bags to the room so you have your full kit to get the airplane ready.

Navigating the airport
Make sure you have your Tourist form handy, as you’ll be required to provide it when you check-in for your flight and when you get to the security checkpoint (this is the form that was stamped and returned to you at the immigration checkpoint upon arrival).

Once through security, there’s a large Duty-Free shopping area that you can browse if you’d like, and there are several restaurants and shops throughout the concourse area as well. Cancun has a VIP Lounge for Priority Pass and other lounge members

We have found this lounge to be overcrowded and not worth the extra cost. United does not have a lounge at Cancun. Our favorite Cancun airport lunch spot is the Margaritaville at the very end of terminal 4! We get the “Top Shelf” margarita and fresh guacamole.

Note: This airport does not broadcast flight information like boarding calls or schedule updates over the intercom in the concourse area. On one of our trips, our flight departure time was moved up but we almost missed the change because we had stopped for some food, and no announcement was made in the concourse. We recommend keeping an eye on one of the Departures screens in the concourse to ensure you don’t miss any updates that may be made.

Customs and Immigration
For those of you returning to Denver (or another participating airport), we’re going to let you in on a secret. The fastest way to get through US customs is to download the Mobile Passport App from the App Store for iPhone or the Google Play store for Android.

Unless you are lucky enough to already have Global Entry, and then you won’t need a mobile passport. If you use the app, you won’t have to fill out a paper version of the customs form which flight attendants distribute on the plane, and you’ll be able to use a special line at the immigration checkpoint, which is much shorter than the line everyone with a paper form uses.

Once you have downloaded the app, follow the instructions to create a pin code. Then, when you are on the plane back to Denver and are getting close to the airport, go through the steps in the app to create a new customs declaration form. You’ll enter your passport information and details of your trip, answer all customs declaration questions, and take a selfie to complete your form.

NOTE: The form is valid for only 4 hours following submission, so don’t submit it until you have actually landed in Denver.

Once you’ve landed and submitted your form, follow the long corridor through the A concourse which leads directly to the customs and immigration checkpoint. At the checkpoint, follow the signs for Mobile Passport & Global Entry holders usually the line starts on the far right side of the hallway, to the right of the main line.

When it is your turn, you’ll simply hand your passport to the official, scan the QR code on your phone for your customs form, and answer any questions the official asks about how long your trip was, who you traveled with, and if you brought anything back with you. When you’re finished, the official will return your passport and give you a small laminated card with a letter on it. Hold onto this card, as you’ll need it after you retrieve your checked luggage. After the immigration checkpoint, when waiting for your checked luggage, keep your cell phone put away, as officials do not like anyone to use their phone in this restricted area. Occasionally there are officials walking through the crowd with dogs as well.

Once you have your checked bags, proceed to the customs checkpoint and give the official the card you received at the immigration checkpoint. Then you’ll be out the sliding doors and back into the main DIA terminal and on your way.
