The Meeting

Chidi and Chichi met in the summer of 2015 through a mutual friend.

Meg: Emmanuel, meet Chichi. Chichi, this is Emmanuel. So when is the wedding?

(Everyone smiles)

Emmanuel(Stretches for a handshake): Since your name is Chichi, you can call me Chidi.

Chichi (smiles): Nice to meet you.

Emmanuel: It's a pleasure to meet you.

Later that day, Mrs. Meg sent Chichi's number to Chidi in her usual funny way and the rest as they say(no matter how cheesy it sounds) is history.

The Friendship

A few months in, they became close friends. So close that no day passed by without a text or call between them. As time went by, they realized they had a lot in common - they aligned socially, spiritually and genuinely wanted the best for each other. She gradually got indoctrinated into the killer bread gang and the sound of her laughter left indelible prints in his mind.

The Growth

It was crystal clear that their friendship has evolved but Chichi wanted him to pass the litmus test, hence, Chidi was presented with some conditions which he delicately overcame. He made known his intentions towards Chichi in 2018 and they essentially started to plan their future together. Their relationship has gone through several phases but they have grown closer with each hurdle.

The Proposal / Brave The Cold

He spent quite some time shopping for the right ring and preparing to propose. When he found the perfect one, he showed it to Chichi's mum for approval which was indicative of his Nigerian roots. He made plans with a photographer for a winter shoot and hoped she won't find out before the day.

The location was Princeton, New Jersey. The day started with cold wind and breezy conditions, hence, Chidi felt it might be better to change his plans but something in him insisted that it had to be done regardless of the temperature. The first attire was somewhat casual and they had so much fun taking timeless shots around the prestigious campus.

They changed into the second outfit and he knew it was time to make his move. While they were backing each other on the instruction of the photographer, Chidi got down on one knee and when she turned around for another shot, he asked "would you make me the happiest man on earth?".
