I spent this summer studying abroad in London. Paul came over for my birthday, as we always celebrate my birthday together. I had to visit the Royal Courts of London and attend the Chancellor's Reception on my birthday, and Paul - the kind and ever so patient person that he is - willingly agreed to hang out with my class on my birthday. The day after my birthday we were scheduled to have a photo session. During the session the photographer asked if I had an engagement ring. You see, Paul had actually asked me to marry him on March 14. So I told the photographer I didn't have a ring and Paul asked, "Are you sure?" And I looked at him strangely, and he asked again, "Are you sure?" Then he pulled out the box from his pocket, knelt down on one knee, and told me, "I would be honored if you would spend the rest of your life with me." It was a picture-perfect moment and we both were grateful Elena was there to capture it.

The first time we met was in church. We had seen each other around, but had never really spoken. It was the Pastoral Anniversary and he was home visiting from New Orleans. He asked me if I was seeing anyone and I told him, "Yes." Then he said, "Oh, I am looking for a wife." I replied, "Don't worry. God will send her to you." And that was all that we said until the next anniversary.
