Transportation

FLIGHTS
Milan's International Airport (MXP) is the closest airport to Lake Como. It's about 45 minutes to an hour away by car, or just over an hour by train.
If you are flying in from elsewhere in Europe, there is also a smaller domestic airport in Milan (Linate Airport) which is about an hour away by car. Other airport options include Florence (approx. 4 hours to Lake Como by car), or Rome (approx. 7 hours to Como by car).

TRAIN
You can catch a direct train departing from the Milano Centrale train station (Milan Central station). The Trenitalia Trenord and Eurocity trains departing from Milano centrale reach the Como San Giovanni station, in the city of Como, in about 40 minutes.
If you are flying into the Milan Malpensa airport you can catch the Malpensa into the town of Como. The train starts from both terminals and gets to Saronno train station in ~20 minutes, from which you can transfer to another train to Como Nord Lago station. There is not a train system that can be used to get around the Lake Como area.

TAXIS & UBERS
Please note that taxis are very limited in Lake Como and ride sharing apps are not available. Taxis are available from the Milan airport to get into Lake Como for around €150 - €180.

PRIVATE CARS
There are a number of private chauffeur services that can be hired for transport to and from the Milan airport as well as to get around the Lake Como area. The price for a one way transfer from the Milan airport to Como is approximately €110 for a 4 passenger car.


WATER TAXIS

If you want to arrive in style, private water taxis are available in the Lake Como area and can be used to travel to the welcome event or the wedding ceremony, as both venues have private docks. Please be sure to ask how long the ride will take from your location to the venue ahead of time.

Lake Como has many additional places to stay, if you are not able to book at Hotel Villa Cipressi! We recommend that you stay in the town of Varenna to be within walking distance from the venue as transportation will not be provided. May is the start of peak season in Lake Como, so we recommend booking accommodations ASAP to get the best prices and location.
