Travel to Bali
Bali, a province of Indonesia, is a magical blend of culture, nature, activities, culinary delights, nightlife, and beautiful accommodations, all surrounded by warm and friendly people and tropical weather.
We are delighted to invite all our family and friends to celebrate such an important time in this beautiful location.
We encourage you to take this opportunity to explore the island, enjoy a fun and relaxing vacation, and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Visas
We choose Bali to celebrate our wedding partially due to their convenient visa, as Bali provides a Visa on Arrival (VoA) which all our guests should be eligible for:
- The VoA is also available in as an Electronic Visa on Arrival at a cost of 500,000 IDR
- You can purchase the e-VoA online and avoid queuing at VoA counters at the airport.
- Only use the Official Immigration Website to purchase your Visa on Arrival online (Link Below).
- Guests from Peru, Hong Kong, USA, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Australia, France, Germany, and the Philippines are all eligible for VoA.
We highly recommend applying for e-VOA at least 48 hours before your departure to ensure a smooth travel experience. If you have any questions or concerns about visas, please don't hesitate to contact us. We want to ensure that all of our guests have a stress-free and enjoyable trip to Bali.
Customs declaration
All passengers arriving in Bali must complete a customs declaration form, which can be completed online within 3 days prior to arriving.
We strongly recommend doing this ahead of your trip as it will save you time at the airport.
After you complete the form you will receive a QR code please save it on your phone or print it.
One form by family is allowed.
Bali Tourism Tax
Since 14 February 2024 foreigners visiting Bali need to pay The Bali Tourist Tax costs IDR 150,000 per person (aprox. USD 10 and AUD 15).
You can pay the tax online on the official Bali Tourism Website: www.lovebali.baliprov.go.id
You will also be able to pay the tax upon arrival (airports and harbours). We strongly suggest however you pay already online before you arrive.
Arriving in Bali
We strongly recommend booking a driver to pick you up from the airport. Not only will it make things easier for you as it will save you lots of time and potentially also some money on expensive rides, Bali drivers can recommend places to change money or get a phone number (if you did not choose to do it at the airport).
Check if you accommodation provides any airport pick up. If not, here are some drivers we met in our last trip (contact them via WhatsApp):
- Nopi Astina (+62 815-4754-2074) - She was the only female driver we met, and probably our favourite.
- Dias (+62 852-3804-9441) - He is Nopi is cousin, also great reviews.
- Just Go Bali (+62 817-9853-853) - This is the preferred company from our wedding planner, with reason as they have great service.
- Do (+62 815-5803-9487) - He is now running his own company, so he will put you in contact with one of his drivers.
Vaccines
To ensure a healthy and enjoyable visit, it's a good idea to take some simple precautions. If you're traveling from regions that are very different from Bali, your medical provider may recommend certain vaccinations before your trip.
Please see the link below stating what vaccines are recommended.
Getting around Bali is easy with several transportation options available. Here are some of the most popular:
1. Rent a Scooter or Motorbike – For all of you coming from Taiwan this might be a familiar option.
Scooter rentals can be cheap and give you plenty of freedom to visit nearby restaurants, beaches, shops, and other places at your own pace.
If you are not used to riding a motorcycle or scooter, you should think twice before renting one in Bali.
It is now mandatory to have an scooter international drivers permit to drive in Bali.

2. Private drivers with cars – normally up to 10hr
On Bali, drivers with cars are readily available, especially in popular areas like Ubud, Sanur, and Seminyak. They are usually part of the local community and some even belong to driver organisations that ensure quality, registration, and standards are followed.
We have provided some recommendations in the Travel information section.
3. Transportation Apps (Uber not available)
GOJEK and GRAB are two transportation apps that you can use to order a scooter taxi for short trips or a car if you need to go a longer way.
*Make sure to install the app before getting to Bali, and add you credit card while you still have access to your country's SIM card as your bank might have authentication requirements.
**We also learned than in some areas you will only be able to request a Gojek is you choose to pay with cash, so definitely remember to keep some all the time.
We recommend hiring a car with a driver for tours and longer trips.
