Alex & Brooke met in Nashville when their mutual friend invited Brooke to a Predators game and she was seated next to Alex for the evening. Alex had Brooke laughing all night long and Alex was smitten by Brooke’s charm. The pair instantly had chemistry and Alex slipped his number into Brooke's phone. Both described meeting each other as feeling like they'd known one another for years and felt like God brought the other into their life.
Brooke and Alex fell in love during their first year together, when they both lived in Nashville. Alex would plan surprise dates for Brooke frequently. They started golfing together, went to live music concerts, went on trips (Cancun, Asheville NC, Maryland) and hung out with shared friends. But most importantly, they became each other’s closest friend and each other’s love.
After a year of dating, Alex had to leave Nashville for a new job. This was a challenging, pivotal moment for Alex and Brooke as they had fallen in love and built a strong relationship, but now were faced with the prospect of distance. There wasn't really a question of if they would do long distance - both knew they wanted to make it work. Distance is never 'fun', but they made it so by making their monthly trips to each other special.
Brooke moved to Chicago in 2019 and Alex and Brooke started their Chicago chapter together. During the pandemic, they took the opportunity to really work on their relationship and picked up new joint hobbies like biking, cooking, tennis, and sailing. Alex has always loved Chicago, and Brooke was thrilled to be somewhere with such a large, blue body of water!
There is nothing more that Brooke & Alex love than traveling and adventuring in new places together. Above is a picture of them in Turks & Caicos, where they rode horses through the bluest water they had ever seen. They've been to Hawaii, Costa Rica, Mexico, national parks like Acadia, and countless other places. On their trips, they love to golf, ski, hike, bike, snorkel, do water sports, seek out views and local cuisine.
After 4 years of dating, Brooke and Alex moved in together in Chicago and couldn’t be happier (except for Alex when his old leather recliner didn’t make the cut in the move).
Nothing brings more joy than a giant Great Dane puppy! Brooke and Alex always wanted a dog, and were ready for this next step. Layla hates mornings just like her father, is vocal about getting play and love, just like her mother, and is the biggest cuddle buddy lap dog in the world. Brooke and Alex are both obsessed with being her parents.
Brooke and Alex got engaged in September 2022 on their trip to Italy. Brooke studied abroad in college in Venice. The spot where Alex proposed, above, was her favorite spot to go on her morning runs. In fact, Brooke had already shown Alex the spot the day before he proposed (picture above) not knowing he had already planned to propose there! The proposal was incredibly romantic and sweet, and the two are so excited to be married.
Brooke and Alex have a busy 2023, full of friends’ wedding celebrations, as well as planning for and having their own wedding. To stay grounded through the excitement, they are making a conscious effort to do things that bring them close- cooking, going on lots of walks, and going to church.
