The welcome party is a casual poolside cocktail hour the evening of the first night. It will be held at the Jungle Pool Terrace.
The welcome party is a casual event. Many guests will be arriving that afternoon and evening, so feel free to come as you are.
For more information about desi wedding wear and event-specific dress guidelines, please see the White Girl's Guide to Desi Wedding Wear. It includes dress recommendations for Indian, western, and Indo-western styles in the Dressing for Our Wedding section.
The sangeet is the evening of the second night and will be held at the Portofino Roof.
The sangeet is a pre-wedding party that brings all guests together to celebrate the wedding couple. It is a festive event featuring choreographed dances, songs, and speeches prepared by guests and family members. Performances are often done in groups, so you do not have to perform alone if you do not want to. During this event, guests can expect to enjoy food, entertainment, and dancing the night away.
We invite our guests to take part in this vibrant celebration. Performances can include traditional Indian or Western music and dance styles, or a hybrid of both. Performances and speeches can be as brief or long as you want (within reason).
If you are interested in doing a speech and/or performance, please let us know. If you would prefer to do it with a group or need help planning, we are happy to help connect guests that are interested.
The mehndi party is an ebullient pre-wedding fête that centers around the application of mehndi (also known as henna). Traditionally, the bride has her hands and feet decorated with intricate designs whereas guests typically have smaller designs applied to their hands. The henna is rubbed off after it dries to reveal a temporary stain of the skin that lasts for several days to weeks.
For our event, we will have 2 henna artists for 2 hours for guests. Guest designs usually take about 5-7 minutes to complete.
Henna can stain clothing while it dries, so make sure to be mindful of the sleeve length so that it will not disturb the art while it dries.
This is the event to have the most fun with dressing up. It is meant to be flashy and performative. Choose outfits that feature some glitz and glam- beading, sequins, sparkles, bright colors, metallics, and jewel tones.
Women's Wear
Outfits: Lehengas, sharara and gharara suits, palazzo pants with coordinating top or choli, pant saree, anarkali dresses, and jumpsuits are great options. This is a good time to bust out your NYE sparkles if you would like to wear something that is already in your closet.
Shoes: Choose shoes that are easy to walk and dance in. Avoid stiletto heels as it can be hard to walk around the resort, and these can easily get caught on longer full skirts such as the lehenga. Shoes with block heels, wedges, and sandals are all good options.
Accessories: Statement necklaces and rings are perfect for bringing additional bling to your outfit. Be mindful of heavy earrings that may pull during dancing.
Men's Wear
This is your time to show off and show out. Kurtas with or without a nehru jacket in jewel tones or dramatic dark colors would capture the festive mood. Choose clothes with metallic embellishments, sequins, and beading to elevate the style. Accessorize with dupattas and pocket squares. Western suits in darker colors, brocade fabrics, or trousers with a button-down in a bold print would also make a statement. Pair with comfortable shoes to dance the night away in.

Baraat
The baraat is a joyous procession in Indian weddings during which the groom travels to the wedding venue accompanied by friends and family. The procession is characterized by high-energy music where guests dance and celebrate, building anticipation for the ceremony.
The meeting place and time is TBD.
The suggested dress is beach semi-formal. Since this takes place at the hottest time of day, light and breathable fabrics are essential. Wear comfortable shoes for dancing in the baraat procession. Guests will be able to take shoes off before walking up to the beach, but you are not required to remove your shoes. If you are keeping your shoes on, make sure you can walk in sand easily.
Women's Wear
Outfits: Anarkali and kurta with loose pants (e.g. sharara, palazzo, or salwar) are a comfortable yet stylish option. Lehengas and saree are a classic choice. For Western style, consider long dresses, jumpsuits, and tops with maxi skirts. Pastels are a common color for wedding day celebrations. Neutrals or vibrant colors are appropriate too. Floral prints, fringe, and crochet are all great vibes for the beach ceremony.
Shoes: Block heels, wedges, and sandals
Accessories: Statement earrings and necklaces, bangles, payal
Men's Wear
Suit jackets and ties are not required. Short sleeve and long sleeve collared shirts with slacks or trousers are appropriate. Linen pants are a comfortable and stylish option. Kurtas are a great Indian-wear option because they often are made from lighter fabrics and can be paired with comfortable and breezy pants. They are the perfect choice for the baraat and ceremony and transition well to the reception.
An outfit change for the reception is not expected, but the bride and groom will be donning their party clothes in preparation of dancing the night away. You have the option to wear something more casual (and breezy) for the ceremony and change into something more festive for the evening. Suggested dress code is festive beach semi-formal.
Women's Wear
Outfits: Bring the party vibes. Sequins and metallics- go for it. Boho beach vibes- love it. Florals or fun prints- perfect. Lehengas, flowy pant suits (e.g. gharara, sharara, palazzo), jumpsuits, dresses (e.g. mini, midi, maxi), dress rompers, Indo-western are all great options.
Shoes: The venue has cobbled stones and may be incompatible with certain heels. Block heels, wedges, and sandals are all good options.
Accessories: Statement earrings and necklaces, bangles, payal, hair jewelry
Men's Wear
Leave the jackets and ties behind. Change into a short sleeve stylish button down and pair with breezy pants. If you went with a kurta for the daytime events, feel free to wear it to the reception- just make sure your shoes are dance-floor compatible. If you haven’t tried a desi style yet, kurtas are the perfect vibe for the reception party.
