Colby & Macy met July 3rd, 2018. Macy was beginning her senior year of high school, while Colby was entering his junior year. Macy was an athletic trainer for the Independence football team, where Colby played defensive end. Shortly after, they began officially dating on July 24th.
In the spring of 2019, Macy graduated from Independence High School and enrolled as a biology major at Texas State University. At this time, Colby transferred to Parish Episcopal School for his senior year of high school. This would be the start of their long distance relationship.
In the spring of 2020, Colby graduated from Parish and enrolled at Oklahoma State University where he majored in Business and played tight end for the Cowboys.
During college, Macy and Colby would use weekends, holidays, or any other excuse to visit each other. Macy attended many of Colby's OSU football games, and Colby traveled to San Marcos for Macy's sorority events. The couple endured 4 years of long distance, counting down the days until it would be over!
In the spring of 2023 Colby & Macy both graduated from their colleges with their bachelor degrees and FINALLY ended their long distance relationship.
On May 27th, 2023 Colby proposed to Macy in Positano, Italy. Colby asked "will you marry me?... in 2 days?"
On May 29th, 2023 Colby & Macy got married on the Amalfi Coast.
Colby began planning the proposal during the summer of 2022, when both families decided to go to Italy in celebration of the college graduates. In December, Colby purchased the ring from Jon Pettey, a family jeweler from Orange, California. During his spring semester he met with Macy's dad, Kevin, in OKC to ask for his blessing. It was at this dinner where the idea occurred to have a destination wedding. With less than 2 months until the trip Colby, Kari, and Melissa began planning the perfect wedding day.
Mark Simpson (A.K.A. Pappy) is a pastor and close family friend that has supported, counseled, and loved the couple throughout the entirety of their relationship. Therefore, the primary concern for Colby was ensuring Pappy could ordain their wedding across the world with such short notice. However, with little to no hesitation Pappy & Nanny agreed to get on a 13 hour flight to make this wedding possible.
With tremendous help from a Fleet Manager at Sorrento Luxury Charter System, Antonello found us a private yacht to host the reception, connected us with the photographer, videographer, florist, and dinner reservations to ensure a night to remember forever.
The wedding took place off the coast of Sorrento, Italy in the Gulf of Naples. It was an intimate ceremony including Macy's parents, Kari & Kevin, and her sister, Tori; along with Colby's parents, John & Melissa, and his brother, Chandler. The surprises seemed never ending, when Melissa surprised Colby by flying in his foreign exchange sister, Thais (& her husband Marcel), to celebrate this occasion together. The ceremony set sails on a sunset cruise where the couple exchanged their vows and toasted to their future together.
