Garba and Raas are two types of traditional folk dances done by Indians from the state of Gujarat. Garba is a series of choreographed moves done while moving in circles around a decorative centerpiece called a rangoli. Raas is a dance done in pairs with decorative wooden or metal sticks that are hit in rhythmic patterns to the beat of the music.

Difficult to describe, but unforgettable when witnessed, this is typically a fun, high energy evening held the night before the wedding.

The morning of the wedding ceremony commences with a baraat where the groom and groom’s family dance to and around the wedding venue. The groom is then welcomed by his soon-to-be in-laws and led into the event room where a series of ceremonies are done before the bride enters.
After the bride walks down the aisle, the ceremony continues with various prayers and rituals involving the couple and their families. When the ceremony is complete, the bride and groom are announced as husband and wife and seek aashirwad (blessings) from their relatives.
