Shah & Ashley

Sophie is the kind of person who would fly across the county from UCLA to Chicago just to fill awkward silences when Ashley first met the future in-laws. Their relationship has blossomed since Sophie came to stay with Shah and Ashley during the pandemic, and they're both incredibly grateful for the new sister they've gained in their lives.

Danni is Ashley's oldest friend - they've been inseparable since middle school, through college together, and even moved to Chicago as roommates. Danni is the person Ashley can always go to get (brutally sometimes) honest advice about anything. Shah and Danni luckily have settled the custody battle they initially waged for Ashley and have become great friends in their own right. No matter where life takes them, Ashley and Danni have always found a way to be close to each other.

Katherine and Ashley have been best friends since they were little baby nursing students in Iowa. Katherine, her sister Rachel (also a bridesmaid), and Ashley have gone through many of life's biggest events together. Katherine being a part of Ashley's wedding is another example of what they are to each other - sisters.

Rachel and Ashley became close when Katherine, another bridesmaid and Rachel's sister, offered her up as a consolation roommate when Rachel lost Katherine to her wonderful husband. Turns out, Rachel and Ashley had the time of their lives during the next few years. They grew together, supported each other, and bonded over carbs. Shah may be a great roommate, but Rachel will always hold a special place in Ashley's heart.

Torey and Ashley feel like they've gone through war together - the long, crazy nights as nurses in the ICU at Rush Hospital brought them closer than any other experience could have. Their support for each other at work became love and support as best friends over the years. Torey and Ashley were some of Shah's first friends when he started at Rush, and Torey may or may not be the reason they decided to start dating in the first place!
