La Baronia Castle
At the beginning of the twentieth century, a superb Art Nouveau style building, designed by an architect disciple of Gaudí, called Joan Rubio y Bellver, was built above a farmhouse. Its interior was filled with furniture, ancient crafts and works of art of incalculable value and was the residence for the Trinxet family. The part of the building corresponding to the original farmhouse, was destined for service dependencies, stables and barns.
During the Spanish Civil War, the house was designated first as a military hospital and later as a prison.
After the war, the family regained the house, returning it to its original glory by rebuilding from the wooden ceilings and restoring original floors that had been totally destroyed.
Once again, they filled the house with antique furniture and works of art of exquisite taste: ancient Roman and baroque carvings and paintings from different eras that still today, adorn the halls and dining rooms of La Baronia adding a note of distinction to the concept of hospitality in Catalonia.
The location is approximately 40 min drive from Barcelona city-centre. On the 11th, we will provide shuttle service to take you from a central location in Eixample area in downtown to the castle. The exact pick-up location will be shared with you later. The buses will take you back to the same location. The first bus leaves after dinner (around 11 pm) and the second bus for the party people (around 2 am).
You do have the option of driving yourself but the last bit of the road is a bit tricky and we want you to be safe.
Your little ones are more than welcome at our wedding! But incase you wish to hire a nanny, the bridal suite in the castle can be setup for nannies and kids. You can go ahead and do the booking yourself or let us know and we can put you in touch with other guests who are looking to book a nanny for the day. ( we are told three children can share one nanny)
We will be staying at Hotel Majestic.
